I stopped at Sioux Falls for lunch during a road trip and found this pub after some Googling. We came in late afternoon on a Wednesday, so it was fairly empty. It was your typical Irish pub decoration and layout, with many TVs on every wall and both bar and booth seating. The restaurant was quite spacious. Although a pub, it had a full-on lunch and dinner menu. I was told the lunch portions are typically smaller than the dinner portions. We came right at the lunch menu time cut-off we ordered from their dinner menu (which is technically the all-day menu). The staff was friendly and service speed was moderate.
Pickled Eggs (1/5): I really wanted to like this, but it was just too sour for me, and the vinegar was very strong.
Shepherd's Pie (5/5): Absolutely delicious. I felt like the mash potatoes-to-ground beef ratio was perfect. The seasoning of the beef was delicious and paired deliciously with the creamy mash. The mash itself was not too heavy or cheesy. I didn't like the bread roll it came with, but the pie itself was very good.
Kilkenny Cod w/ Wild Rice & Veggies (4/5): I loved a well-cooked cod. It's one of those fish that is hard to mess up, and this Kilkenny cod was cooked perfectly. The cod was still soft on the inside and the crust on the outside held so much flavor. The wild rice was well-cooked, it was soft and fluffy. The veggies were also yummy. I highly recommend squeezing that lemon slice they give you. It balances the fried cod with the creaminess of the sauce so well. It was a very yummy dish, but it was not too stand-out...
Read moreHeaded downtown on a Sunday, didn't realize a lot of places are closed on Sunday! Thank goodness The Blarney Stone Pub was hopping, we had a wonderful experience! We were greeted when we arrived and were able to be seated right away at a table for two on the patio. It was a hot one, definitely wish they had some fans out there! The fly's were thick as well, I think fans would help that issue a little as well. The host didn't provide menu's so we waited awhile for our server to notice us and bring them, perhaps that could be an easy fix by providing the host with the menus!
Our server Jasmine was lovely, she was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. We were surprised to find out that there is an entire gluten free menu so ordering took a little longer once we received that menu! I ordered the Corned Beef & Cabbage and my friend who has celiacs ordered the sirloin steak. The corned beef melts in your mouth, the creamed cabbage is divine and the potatoes are nice and chunky and creamy. The sirloin was cooked perfectly to order and the veggies were a nice al dente texture. The presentation of the sirloin could use a little pizazz but the flavor was good. The wait time for the food is long, two drinks worth of long, but in the end was worth the wait as we just sat and visited and enjoyed our time.
We had a good experience at The Blarney Stone and I recommend them for a nice cold Guiness and some excellent...
Read moreHad been looking forward to a pint of Guinness at the Blarney Stone since moving here 2 months ago. Today my fiance and I popped in and sat at the bar. There were maybe 4 other people at the bar. Ashley R served us. I ordered a pint of Guinness and he ordered pint of Michelob Ultra. She poured his pint and walked off to make a bunch of mimosas and then started cleaning behind the bar. The other bartender finally walked over and poured my pint and immediately sat it down in front of me. I told the other bartender she must have forgot about me. Very disappointing. SO I had my fiance cash out our 2 pints immediately. I asked her if she realized she forgot to serve me my Guinness. She attempted to gaslight me and said she began the pour and tried to mansplain to me about how Guinness has to settle. As if I have never had a Guinness before??? I told her I watched the other girl pour it for me. I saw her pour it for me. (BTW it was handed to me unsettled.) She held her hands up in the air like she didn't know what I was talking about or didn't care. She is working at the wrong pub. You don't attempt to gaslight and lie to a ginger about whom poured them their pint of Guinness. Especially at a supposedly Irish pub. To reiterate, I was royally disappointed and most likely...
