First time my husband and I ate there today. It was an excellent experience, and we definitely plan to return.
Pro's: clean, nice cozy ambiance, excellent service, delicious hot food and appetizers, quick service, beer, decent price, plenty of raw food options, lots of yummy sounding sauces, tofu, veggie egg rolls, vegan and vegetarian friendly
Cons: metal raw food bowl (even the "large") way too small; would like to see healthy starch option like brown rice; on the delivery menu, please add tofu to the meat options and not on the vegetable options, vegans and vegetarians need to be able to pick a protein option, and if you have tofu, that's where it belongs, otherwise we don't get a protein choice and then we only get two veggies to go with the tofu for our three choices of side items; please add a meatless choice to your fixed menu, as well
It's in the old CiCi's spot by the movie theater. Very nice inside. Clean, neat, cozy ambiance. Excellent fast service. No wine, but bottled beer. You can order from a few fixed menu items or a buffet style large or small bowl. The bowl the food is served in looked like a decent size to have some leftover to take home, so we opted for the large. The server brought us what seemed like a tiny silver bowl , about as big as and looked like a metal dog food bowl for a small dog. We asked the server if he was sure that was for the large bowl, and he said, "yes." Okay then. I filled mine up as full and overloaded as I could. I don't eat meat, so I got tofu, which I was excited they had, and veggies. I ordered udon noodles as my starch. It came or in the large bowl and full. But, the ratio ends up being about 1:10 veggies v starch. So, my leftovers were only noodles.
The food was hot and delicious though, just want a large to mean more raw food, not just more starch. About $14.45 for the large. $12:45 for small. Veggie egg rolls were hot and yummy.
We'll go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo this is the second time eating from this place yet it is the first time not only dining in but in person. The first and below review was a delivery I did for my mom when she was traveling. Now I am here and wanted to check it out as my momās comments were very high of this place.
I informed the waiter that it was our first time and that I needed some help and he was very kind in informing how it worked. Basically you choose noodles, rice, or another option to be your base; on top of this, you go through self-serve line, picking your proteins, anywhere from crab meat, shrimp, different types of pork, chicken and regular meat, bacon, pepperoni ham. Then you choose your veggies with a great variety. All look nice and fresh.
Then you pick your sauces which they have over 12 different options all of them clearly labeled. You can also add some spices.
Then they take it up onto the big grill, it is cooked for you and a few minutes later served.
It was really good, fresh ingredients, and very tasteful, good customer service from the waiter, all on point.
Will be back when visiting Smyrna, Tennessee, and family members will be returning as they live here.
Only negative that I would mention, the floor was very sticky, walking in and around the place, Iāve noticed this on other restaurants, and I canāt say itās lack of hygiene, I would say, itās the type of supplies they used to clean, which donāt give the best appearance.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I went here this past weekend.
One of the reasons we chose this place over some other similar restaurants is because I heard you can still build your own bowl here. Some other similar restaurants build it for you. Well, they don't pack the bowl like -I- pack the bowl! So, we tried out Golden Bowl.
It is true that you get to pack your own bowl here. I purposefully did not take a picture of my bowl when it was served to me because it wouldn't look aesthetically pleasing. This is NOT the fault of Golden Bowl, but because -I- chose almost all meat and mushrooms. No one really wants to see a bowl of mono-color brown, but I will say that it was delicious!
I will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get some mongolian bbq!
One caveat I would give is beware the bacon. Not because it's bad, or anything like that. The method of cooking the entire dish doesn't lead to crispy bacon. If you like your bacon soft and chewy, then have at it. I didn't care for it. However, -I- chose it. Next time I go, I will choose not to get the bacon, and therefore it will be even better.
Another caveat I will give is the egg. Most places like this when you ask for an egg to be added, they mix it in with everything else. However, Golden Bowl cooks it and places the entire fried egg on top of the bowl. Makes it harder to mix into the rest. You may love it, I didn't care for it. Next time I go, I will choose not to get the egg.
Long story short, I will be back! (and I will make some...
