I went there today at 7:15 PM, waited a few minutes for someone to take my order, and ordered at 7:20 PM. I was told my food would be ready in 25 - 35 mins. I went to my car and waited 10 mins because the store was a bit crowded for quarantine times. I then drove to Little Caesar and picked up a pizza for my daughter. I returned 20 - 25 mins later. My food was not ready. I waited another 20 mins and my food still was not ready. I finally managed to get the cashier's attention, who was obviously avoiding me. Before I could complete my sentence, she stated my food would be ready in a few minutes. Ten to 15 minutes later I go to front to ask about my food, she again avoids me. Finally at 8:20 PM she gives me my food, and I say I have waited an hour, shouldn't something be done. She says that they were very busy and so there's nothing that can be done.
As far as Chinese restaurants go their food is pretty good. However, as demonstrated above, the customer service is non-existent. I believe because they do so much business, they believe they can afford to be less than hospitable or provide subpar customer service.
This is the 2nd time I have been more than disappointed with the restaurant. Once before I made a call in order for hunan shrimp. When I got there they said I must have ordered kung pao shrimp. I did NOT as I do not order kung pao shrimp EVER. Also kung pao shrimp sounds nothing like hunan shrimp. They had a relative or someone new temporarily working there so I chalked it up to first day mistake. I declined the food though I really wanted hunan shrimp.
I will not revisit this restaurant AGAIN! I rather starve than frequent somewhere that is this disrespectful to their customers, but that may just be a "me thing."
If these issues do not affect you similarly then by all means please go to No. 1 China, otherwise I say find somewhere else to go for your ...
Read moreSunday 17 Sept 2017. 1:30pm I was there for lunch. Lady who took my order was nice. Pleasant but quick.
The lunch special included either an egg roll or choice of soup. I had the hot & sour. It was steaming hot and spicy. Nice. As in cleared out the sinuses, nice. I spooned some of the soup over the fried rice. Fried wonton strips came with the soup.
I order the Gen. Tso's chicken, but it tasted more like 'orange chicken' from Panda Xpress ? ! ? ! ? But I was hungry, did not want to complain.
The fried rice and chicken were temperature hot (steaming) Mildly sweet, mildly spicy, but not enough spice for me. I asked for chili sauce, but they were out, both bottle and packets.
Lot of variety on the menu. But not a place to get dressed up. Bench seats and tables from fast food places 20 years ago. Great for take out. Lots of parking, part of the Kroger supermarket complex.
Cans of soft drinks from a fridge, BUT no hot tea, like in other Chinese places.
Even though I ordered my food 'stay here' (aka eat in the restaurant,) it was brought out in a styrofoam box, and styrofoam cup for the soup with plastic utensils.
While I was there (+/-20 minutes from entering to exiting) phone orders were coming in, and other customers walking in to place take out orders.
Will return again, give it another chance, will order...
Read moreGreat food UPDATE-July 18th 2019
It is with SAD heart of mine to update my review as of July 18,2019 that No.1 China is no longer No.1 in the Smyrna Georgia area. FIRST and foremost I noticed the male cook was not working and the young lady that receives orders and DOESN'T WASH HER HANDS was also doubling as the cook -HORRIBLE she was most definitely with a bad demeanor as apparently she hated it..now on to the food..well I'm getting an upset stomach as I type this so I ordered the "Crispy Chicken" and I was delighted UNTIL I tasted my fried rice it tasted like the inside of a refrigerator and the main dish itself well let's just say it tasted like what the smell of the bottom of a trash can would taste like if you ever had to..whats worse is my daughter rice was disgusting as well but her orange chicken was good just dry and rubbery so it all makes sense NOW the fried rice came from out the fridge left uncovered and the chicken dishes were precooked and heated up.I lost money cause these so called meals went in the trash and NO I am not letting this go unnoticed I will be filing a complaint with some folks up high. I suggest you ALL do the same* WE ALL HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW IF FOOD ISN'T COOKED FRESH so we may...
