I wouldn't even give one start if that were on option. I've been going to steak n shake since I was a baby as it was my dad's favorite burger place. I've never had an experience as bad as the one I had at this location today. My server was so slow, she brought out each item, one plate at a time. I had to her for my cup of chili, and she stomped her foot like a child when I did. I had to ask her for my children's fries. She brought out one plate of fries, then realized there two kids and had to bring out another plate. This was after she served their entry to hot for a child to eat so they had to sit with nothing while it cooled off. When I went to the manager to explain my experience, I was interrupted by another server named Carol, who wanted to tell me that Tiffany was sick and on medication. Great, so you are aware of your servers illness and you haven't sent her home, and she just served my children? Carol then walked over to Tiffany to tell her I was at the counter complaining about her. I asked the manager, Willy, if he was aware Carol had run over to tell Tiffany about my complaint. His response was "yes, ma'am I know" I said, do you realize Carol just cost you a good customer? Willys response was "yes ma'am, that was her intention." He never apologized for Tiffany or Carol's behavior. So basically, if you complain to managers at this location, they would rather lose business then actually do something about it. The servers run that location more then management. I have never seen any server as disrespectful as Carol. I don't know how they stay in business with a old toad like her running it. Its obvious the "manager" was not in charge...
Read moreFind another location to eat at. Everytime I have came here in the drive through it takes 40 mins to get my food. The last time I was there was my last as I found hair in one of my burgers(thank god before the person ate it). I did go in to exchange and the manager did exchange however that added another 15 mins on my time. So almost an hour for Steak and Shake is crazy when I am not dinning in. Plus although he apologized, he didnt offer anything free or to refund me for the meal that was affected. Which I thought was the least he could have done for the inconvenience. Im not sure whats up with that location though. I have been at others that were just as busy and it runs alot smoother. At first I gave them a pass cause Im like okay its super busy they are doing their best. Maybe they dont have enough staff that day. However, the day I went in I saw alot of staffing, but alot of ppl just not pulling their weight. The Manager was working the register. And there were three ppl waiting to pack one bag for the drive through and only two people cooking, but only one person actually putting together things after its been cooked. I think a district manager needs to come in and retrain the manager on how to manage his location. Also I want to say that when I went in the place seemed clean to my standards in the kitchen for a diner. I observed the cooks and they didnt have long hair which is what we found in the burger side when we unwrapped it. So it leads me to believe that someone dropped the burger and decided to wrap it up anyway and serve it. Which is plain wrong. They get two stars for being friendly and for their potential of becoming a...
Read moreIt's been a year, or more, since the last time I had been in here; I quickly remembered why it had been so long-customer service totally sucks here (or, rather, nonexistent). My son and I stopped in New Year's Day for breakfast. Upon entering there were two workers behind the counter, one sitting at the counter on her phone and several more at the back of the store chatting. No one acknowledged us entering nor approached to seat us. I stepped over to the counter to inquire if we should just seat ourselves at which time a family came in, whereby they were promptly greeted by one of the waitresses who had been in the chat group at the rear of the dining room. I raised my hand to say, "hello, we were here." She says, "oh, I thought you were going to sit at the counter." Not, "I'm sorry," or "my bad." So she acknowledged that she saw us come in, but chose to ignore us. So, although I won't make a specific claim, I'll add these pertinent (or, maybe not?) details: We are black, the waitresses were all white, the family that was greeted were white, but the worker sitting at the counter on her phone, who barely glanced up, and one of the workers behind the counter were black. So, at the very least, every crew member at this location should be trained in customer service. When I walk into most other restaurants, even other fast food type establishments, I am greeted or, at least, acknowledged by "I can take your order when you're ready." It was if we were invisible when we walked in here. I'll probably not be going back into this location any time in the the...
