Musashi's before "renovation" was so much better. I ate here once a week before and now I'm sadly never eating here again.
Firstly, they closed for renovations and reopened looking exactly the same except the TV is gone...
Secondly, I called twice and they didn't pick up. When I went in person and asked if they had changed their number the woman told me she thought my cell phone number was a scam call so she screened it and didn't pick up (???)
Third, I calculated a price increase of 61% since reopening. The salmon rolls used to be $5.50/order with plenty of fish and now they are $9 for the tiniest portions worth about $3 of ingredients. The Chirashi bowl, edamame, every single item is significantly more expensive. Not only that, but the rolls I ordered were HALF THE SIZE they used to be. Seriously, each bite was about the size of a quarter. My $30 order ended up the size of my hand, and the rice had so much vinegar in it you couldn't even taste the fish. It was just straight up vinegary rice with a pinch of fish.
I waited like 35 minutes for my order which was a simple salmon roll, and there were only 2 other people in the place so it's not like the slow wait time was due to a lunch hour rush.
And to all business owners out there claiming this is a necessary change due to inflation-- just stop. the market speaks for itself and Musashi's is a complete...
Read morePlace just reopened after they got shut down from the health inspection, and they took the time to remodel and seems like there's new ownership.
Unfortunately, the food was pretty mediocre, with mid quality fish at 150% the price it used to be. Which is a shame, because the fish quality used to be amazing.
I also misunderstood the menu. It uses x / y pricing for their sushi / sashimi l, with sizes 2 / 6. First of all, 'sushi' isn't very descriptive. I ordered 12 salmon nigiri, thinking I'd pay two times the right side price - I assumed it was a bulk price discount. Instead I was charged 6 times for the 2x price. Presumably because the slash denotes ordering it as a roll or not, and that non-rolls have a smaller unit size? It was not intuitive, and I didn't appreciate the surprise bill.
Additionally, the waiter got us the wrong order for one of our rolls. The waiter actually had to go back to the counter after every question to hash it out with the owner. It must have been her first day. She seemed sweet, but this only added to our confusion and lack of understanding throughout.
Ultimately, this place isn't as good as it used to be. And it's...
Read moreSo, I was here a couple weeks ago, with a friend from out of town. She loves sushi and wanted to get some here because, let's face it, the west coast has the best. When we walked in, we barely got a nod from the guy behind the counter and we helped ourselves to a seat. After a few minutes, a different guy brought us some water and tea and walked off without a word.
What really set me off was the music. There is absolutely no excuse for having music with f-bombs in it, among others, unless you're a bar. If your business is available to children at any point, that is unacceptable.
We sat for about 15 minutes and nobody came to take our order. We were both so disgusted that we left without ordering. I don't normally write this negative of a review, but this place really took the cake. I hope they...
