Very good Korean bbq place in a convenient location for suburb Ohio. So happy with the location because it means we don't have to drive all the way downtown.
We came here 3 consecutive days for dinner. I wish I took photos but I was with groups so I didn't get the chance to.
The meat is very good. The meat platter isn't as big as you might want for two male adults. I recommend getting some meat and appetisers, a soup dish and a side dish.
The beauty of Korea bbq is that usually the servers will check on your meat for you and adjust the fire depending on your meat's cooking. Service was great because of that. They have a little snacks section up front with lots of Korean snacks which the kids seem to love. Or if you're drinking and need a couple of nibbles, you can quickly grab something. There's also an extensive ramyun (Korean instant noodles) selection if you want to take home after your meal. Not sure if you can eat with your meal.
I recommend the kbbq, tteokboki, kimbab, and definitely the soups!! If you're new to Korean food, I would try dwenjang jigae (soup) last. Its base is fermented soy beans so try the other soups first before you try that one!
Update: never disappointed when I come. So delicious. Sometimes the dishes aren't as good as they last were which is the only downside. But then I come back again and it's even more delicious😂
that is my only critique- the inconsistency of the some of the dishes when we come back to eat on a different occasion. But I'm aware of how hard staffing is and restaurant business is hard so I'm not going to dock points just because of that.
I’m not a big drinker but my friends were raving about their drinks deliciousness! Thank you Gogi En K BBQ for your hospitality and...
Read moreThis is an addendum to the below review: My husband and I stopped in for lunch in a Saturday. It was busiest we had seen Gogi as we typically come for dinner on weekdays.
Food: The Korean bbq was very good. We always enjoy this and feel like the meat quality is very good. The soondubu stew we would not recommend. It does not have much flavor beyond the taste of the chili flakes as there is no taste to the broth.
Service: Today, perhaps, because they were busier they did not cook our kbbq for us, but we did not mind as we actually enjoy doing it ourselves. The main problem with the service was the lack of communication regarding the vegetables used to wrap the kbbq and the new requirement for a la carte ordering of meats. We were not told any of this when we placed our orders and instead found this out after we were cooking our food. In the past we have always been able to order one kbbq meat and received complimentary vegetables to wrap with. However, we were now told that we should have ordered two meats and that vegetables cost $7.95 and that’s how it’s always been. There seems to be a discrepancy between the servers, chefs and other staff in the restaurant and this should be sorted out as this has not been consistent across our times visiting Gogi. If the requirement is that a la carte ordering requires two meat orders this should be in the menu (which it is not) and also it should state in the menu that you can order vegetables for an additional cost.
Prior review from opening week: Service was excellent. They cooked the Korean bbq for you at your table. Food was very delicious and there were four different banchan served. They also were very nice and offered complimentary...
Read moreFirst time here, for my son's 21st birthday.
The host asked if we had a reservation, as apparently the BBQ tables are only available via reservation, otherwise it's a 30-60 minute wait.Their website doesn't mention reservations, or we'd have made one.
We were seated at a regular table, worst one in the restaurant, next to the front window and the door. It was cold and drafty. Very unpleasant on a freezing winter evening.
Our server was also working as the bartender, so it took quite a while to get our order placed. He was pleasant but clearly overwhelmed.
My son and husband got their entrees about 20 minutes later, along with the appetizers we ordered. Mine and my daughter's entrees didn't arrive. About another 15 minutes later, a server brought out the wrong entree for her. We had to wait for the correct dish to be made.
Somehow my entree never showed up. I waited another 30 minutes or so, with no food.
When I was able to flag down our server, he was very apologetic, and brought it out about 15 minutes after that. The rest of my family had already finished eating by the time I got my entree.
The server said the kitchen was backed up, and said my entree would be comped, but my bill still had it on there.
The food was excellent at least. I loved the pork dumplings and the beef bulgogi.
Another review mentioned desserts, but we weren't offered a dessert menu, so we didn't try any.
The poor service and seating arrangement just put a damper on our dinner. Hopefully they'll get the kinks with the service worked out as they're...
