Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Somers Point

I have been a frquent customer since it opened- but after tonight's experience--I would not recommend anyone to dine here, The manager and a staff member embarrassed me in front of my dinner party accusing me of not paying for a drink on my last visit, the problem was, I was on a tab, and paid in full, plus left a 20 dollar tip.. on my last visit. If I wanted to duck my bill, I would have never returned and been a sneeky person as they made me out to be.. How unprofessional. they even went as far as to say that they chased me out in the parking lot on my last visit--Errm-- HMM- Maybe they mistaked me for someone else, I parked in front of the main entrance a few footsteps away from my car-"== I wonder how many other customers had the same experience ?, I am sure that I will find out on all the social networks online :/ I will never spend my money at this place again !! hey applebees you lost a regular customer because you made a mistake on identification !, not only that, I have spent alot of my paycheck earnings for the past few years to eat there,, average ticket over 60 dollars plus a 20 tip- Never again- I will go to dine somewhere else!! I am sure that other establishments will want me to rave about them and spend my paycheck to eat. NO problem at all !! I caution anyone to dine at applebees, you will never know when you will get the embarrasing confrontation that you never paid for a Drink when you were on a tab - They charged me for one drink That they said I didnt pay for. but I was on a tab and paid over 50 dollars that night plus 20 dollar tip to the bartender that made weak drinks.. they are wrong PERIOD! Visited on 07/07/23. Will never be back. Love some Applebees every now and again. But terrible service will override any good meal. Bartender with the Red Hair wouldn’t serve me and my son. Unbelievable. After sitting there for 15 minutes, no exaggeration, I sat there for 15 real minutes in awe of the lack of awareness. A server in passing asked the bartender if she’d been to the table yet she stated “I’m not taking THAT”. The emphasis on the THAT is what threw me off. As if the 15 minutes to be greeted weren’t enough. Maybe it wasn’t racial profiling, maybe it was the fact that it was a deuce at a table that seats 6. I get it, I’ve served before… Except there was only 1 person at the bar. So what was it about me that would make you say “I’m not taking that”. The lack of awareness. If you have someone like this at the bar, in the center of your restaurant, I feel like this is a direct reflection of your store and its culture. Don’t assume that someone of color doesn’t know to tip 20% or that they’re going to be a pain to serve. Some of us are from the service industry, nice establishments too, and know to take care of the server. I’ve never walked out of an establishment before, you can always rectify a misunderstanding. We visited Ocean City for my birthday weekend and on the way out, Sunday afternoon, we decided to stop and eat at Applebee's. Conny was our server and early in our visit I told my wife that she knew what she was doing and was good at what she did. Conny was excellent. Something on my wife's part of our order wasn't made correctly and she told Conny who brought the manager, Tiffany. She was very understanding and made sure the issue was satisfied. In the process, my wife told her we were traveling for my birthday weekend and the manager offered a birthday dessert and asked if it was okay if she and the team came over to sing Happy Birthday. They came and sang and brought the dessert and it was incredibly fun! Keep in mind I'm in my early 50's... lol Overall, the attitude here is great and it spreads from the top down. This was our second time there for this trip, and the first time was a good experience as well, though it was Friday night so the crowd was different, much younger. I recommend anyone to eat here. You know what your going to get at any Applebee's and you have to order to your palate, but finding a place with a great staff and atmosphere is not always a given.
