Update: May 7th, 2023 | Sadly I need to change my review from 4 to 1 star. We arrived today for brunch. We were told to wait because they had a big group ahead of us. No problem so far. They did have a big group but after they sat that group the hostess returned. She did not acknowedge us although we were the only 4 sitting there. In fact, she couldn't even glance our direction. Very easy to simply state "we will be right with you" or any acknowledgement would suffice. We sat for a full 5 minutes after her return becore we decided to leave. Perhaps I am old school but good customer service does not entail ignoring your patientily waiting customers. The restaurant was far from full and she did not look busy. Not really sure what took place here but we will not be back.
Nathanael the general manager treated us very well. Thank you, Nathanael! I rarely give out 5 Stars. This place is very close but the price (although well worth it) is a bit high depending on what you order which is why the 4-star rating. Everything was good from start to finish. You see thought has gone into this menu and it isn't the same boring cuisine you can find at so many places. Beautiful place and I highly recommend you give it a visit. Side note there is a beautiful bar as well.
Went back for breakfast recently and it was delicious. The service was FAST and damn near perfect. This place is under rated in my opinion. Our new favorite breakfast...
Read moreThe ambience of this place is beautiful and relaxing, both indoor and outdoor seating. The service at reception was ok, our waitress was very friendly. However my food was very disappointing. I wasnt super hungry, so all I ordered was a Caesar Salad and a Clover Club, two classic things impossible to get wrong right?? Nope. The Caesar salad was extremely fishy tasting and dry, I couldn't even finish it. I have no idea how it could be called a Caesar salad at all, it should be named Dry Seafood Salad or something because to call it a Caesar is kind of insulting to Caesar salads...on top of that, it was half the size of the salad my Mom ordered, but more expensive? This salad was really tiny!
Also, about my Clover Club... as someone who often orders these and even makes them at home, this is not a Clover Club. A Clover club has raspberries, but this had pomegranate for some reason. I tried it out of curiosity, and it tasted fine, but not like a Clover Club.
I know resturaunts like to put their own twists on things, but to name something a classic item but really deviate from the original recipe is just setting up people like me for disappointment... Others in my group seemed to really enjoy their food though, so I would give it another try to see if the other...
Read moreBEST breakfasts in Sonoma in the most beautiful setting (both inside and out with lots of charming, comfortable spaces)! 5-star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ breakfasts, hands-down.
Their breakfast offerings are always perfectly executed - whether you want pancakes, traditional egg breakfast with crispy potatoes, omelettes, avocado toast, Chilaquiles, Strauss yogurt with house-made granola, etc. They are very consistent with the food quality and lovely presentation. Every breakfast dish is absolutely great, with lots of excellent sides to create your own dish. Prices are totally reasonable considering Layla is connected to the MacArthur Place hotel.
Their customer service is warm, kind, professional, and attentive. We have so many favorite servers (Mingma, Monsae to name a couple) we always look forward to dining in ... plus we can walk to breakfast, which is a bonus.
Coffee is strong, lots of great teas and mimosas, bloody Mary's, Micheladas, and cold pressed juices.
Go enjoy an excellent breakfast at Layla! (Waaaay better than the "popular" tourist traps we have down at the plaza [downtown on the square] with terrible customer service, mediocre food, and a high propensity to price-gouge even the locals). ;)
Literally the perfect breakfast...
