I visited in September of 2020 and waited outside of their takeout window for a few minutes as it was during time of Covid. After a few minutes of waiting at the window I went inside to order (with my mask on.) The manager greeted me and was fairly attentive. I told him I was recommended by a local winery and that I was told they have the best takeout in town, so I asked what he recommended. He mentioned the watermelon salad, the Burrata, and the cod aguas chiles. I ordered the cod aguas chiles and was told to wait outside at the window where I originally went to order (that had no line.).
It was over 100 degrees that day and I abided and waited outside the window patiently. Two staff members were inside behind the food line and they removed their masks. I approached the window and they both put their masks on and one approached the window to attend it. I was asked if I could be helped and I asked to cancel my order. I was asked why. I said that if I can wait outside in 100 degree heat, there’s no reasons the staff behind the food line can’t wear a mask in an air conditioned room. They called the manager and the manager (who initially took my order) asked for further justification. I explained the predicament and he asked why I was rude to his staff. I told him I politely asked to cancel my order (twice) and why. And he asked ME for further justification (and not why I was displeased!). This is not a debate - it’s a transaction. Ask me what’s wrong and how it can be made better. Don’t make me dig into my rhetoric textbook. At this point I asked the manager whether he was going to cancel my order or not because I was done talking.
COVID-19 is not a game and protocols are not optional to apply only when It’s convenient for you and your staff. I work in the food industry and this is straight selfish, bold, and reckless. They treated it all as a joke and smiled in my face. If you’re okay with this, knock yourself out and enjoy the food at your own risk, but if you care about your fellow person and your community, avoid this establishment. THEY DO NOT CARE. They deserve less than nothing from you. That’s what they think about your health. It’s a joke. You’re better off asking Phillip-Morris for compassion. You’re better off asking DuPont for empathy. I would rate them less than nothing. I’ve never experienced such disdain in my life. Just cancel my order and GTFO - that’s literally I want. Nobody wants that soggy aguas chiles anyway. I guess that’s...
Read moreGreat spot on the corner of Sonoma Plaza. Lot of great choices of booze and wine. Food and coffee as well. Food price is reasonable but serving size is fairly small. Toast, one egg, one piece bacon and some salad/lettuce. 11 bucks plus tax. Add the typical 5 dollar rip off coffee and it's 20 bucks for 400 calories. But it's still a great spot for a tourist to check out.
Update 02/23/2022. Review above is for the downstairs. The restaurant upstairs is excellent. The restaurant location isn't obvious. The store is on the first level and restaurant on the 2nd level. Great spot and vibe. The service was excellent and the food was good and good portions. Cocktails were excellent....
Read moreThe upstairs dinning room was quiet and cozy when my wife and I visited for dinner. The wine list, refreshingly, had plenty of international choices alongside the local offerings. I had a lovely french Pinot Noir with my squash soup and beet salad, while my wife paired a Chardonnay with her pork meal. Both entrees were delicious in there own right, but the star of the night was the squash soup. Topped with a pistachio crumble that added just the right amount of salt and crunch and a drizzle of peppery sauce that gave it a kick, the soup was warm symphony of flavor. The wait service was friendly and I look forward to...
