The food my wife and another couple was "average". If a turkey sandwich is ordered, it is cut from a large chunk of Boars Head turkey. I can get that sliced or in a sandwich at a supermarket. There is nothing wrong with Boars Head turkey, but when eating out in a sit down restaurant that is not a deli, I hope to get better than supermarket "every day offered" food.
I ordered a salad, which was good and had a great dressing of choice, but came with no bread. I asked our server if they could bring some bread and was told they did not have any. I remembered seeing Pita bread on the menu so I asked if I could have that with my salad. Yes, but it would be charged for. That's fine, but not to my liking. The majority of restaurants give some bread with salads.
I had a chicken sandwich and it was good.
I also ordered a "Black and Tan" as this is an Irish "themed" restaurant. They new it was Guinness from the tap and Bass Ale mixed in. This usually comes, in fact always comes thick and foamy initially. My drink wasn't poured or mixed properly. The Bass Ale was poured in first from a bottle, I believe, with Guinness then poured on top of the Bass Ale from a tap. You could see the Bass on the bottom and the Guinness on top of it instead of being mixed together. This is wrong.
I am sure there are regulars that like this restaurant and I wish them the best. I won't...
Read moreWe heard great things about the fish and chips, so we decided to find out for ourselves. We arrived at 7 pm to a nearly full house, yet we found a booth that the manager cleaned for us. He was very friendly and kind. The room had a rather loud tavern/bar noise level, which felt familiar. The booth was clean and cozy with backs high enough to muffle some of the noise. We got one fish and chip order with a tiny condiment of sweet cole slaw and a nice amount of hot french fries. The fish - 1 fileted piece of white fish (cod?) was rather soggy and overcooked. The slaw needed more acidity and less sugar - also, there wasn't much of it, maybe 3 tbls? We also ordered a corned beef rueban and a cup of lentil and sausage soup. The sandwich was a little greasy but delicious! The soup was interesting: more broth than anticipated, some vegetables, small chunks of bratwurst-like sausage, and a small of lentils. Spicy and comforting. Some packaged saltines and a zesty "deli" pickle were added on the side. The soup had spilled a bit on the plate and into the sandwich - not a fan of that. Overall, though, it was a good meal. While we may come back, we won't be ordering the fish and...
Read moreI am giving 2 stars ONLY because the salad was good. The waitress was okay. However, it went downhill from there. The wings I ordered were exceptionally dry. I also ordered salad and soup. The salad came out in a timely manner and was good and fresh. A while later I received my wings with blue cheese dressing (I ordered ranch). About 3 or 4 minutes AFTER getting my wings, she brought out the clam chowder which I figured she had forgotten. Rather than let my dry wings get cold, I ask to take the soup to go. Mistake! My husband and I tried to eat the soup the next day and each took one spoonful. It was so salty as to be inedible. We have been traveling the country in our RV and sampling the neighborhood fare. This was the WORST to date! Oh and good luck finding much in the way of Irish fare here. Very limited! Although we will be back here next year, we will NOT be back to this place!!! I really have no clue how they have the...
