This afternoon, (4:15pm) March 13, 2021 I placed my usual order from the “Pick Two” menu which consisted of 1/2 of a chicken salad sandwich, and 1/2 Caesar salad , my wife ordered a mixed salad, and a desert snack. We did not order drinks, just waters. Normally our cost is $20.00 with out the desert, and $23.00 with desert. I was stunned when the clerk taking our order said our total was $33.00. I asked her to recheck the order, and our total and she; half interested, stated no that’s the correct total for what you ordered. The line was building behind us so I took my receipt and found what I was told was the manager. I explained that I believed my order was incorrect, that I was over charged. She too, was less helpful, suggesting she thought I was being charged for a whole sandwich, rather than a half sandwich. She returned to our table before our meal came, and refunded me $2.75. Which I still believed was incorrect. When our order was delivered by the same person who we placed our order with, she brought a 1/2 sandwich, and a 1/2 Caesar salad. In addition my wife’s full salad, and a large Caesar Salad. At this point I informed our serve that I did not order an additional large Caesar salad. She was less than pleasant, and appeared annoyed that I was being difficult. She took the large salad away with my receipt , and said she would return with the proper refund.
Needless to say she never returned, and by this point I was really annoyed at both the staff, and management. In fact I was furious, and very disappointed with our service, and the attitude of the management. Better judgement came over me and I decided to leave without further incident.
My comments are intended to warn others of the poor service, and total disregard for the customer. My hope is the senior management will see these comments, and take the appropriate steps in correcting poor customer service at their Summerville, SC ...
Read moreSo im going Christmas shopping and decided to have lunch at one of my favorite places to eat. I love this place so much that when my company of 100 people has to have catering i call them. My company must spend over 500 a month at Newks. However this afternoon when my husband and i were going to lunch i had a very bad experience. As we walked in and waited in line the man that was doing the to go side said ill take you over here. So we walked over to the to go side to order through him. I asked for half a sandwich and a pasta salad. He rolled his eyes at me and said you cant do that. Well i know i can because i eat here alot. So i said, ive done this meal before do you think that maybe you can check to see if they will let me do it again and he rolled his eyes at me again and says its fine ill do it. When i told him what i wanted or didnt want on my sandwich he didnt listen to me and i had to say it 3 times. When i looked at the register it said fruit salad and not pasta salad and i said, its pasta salad right and he rolled his eyes at me again. By this time i have walked away to let my husband finish up the order. I gave this place 3 stars because the food is good. So go here for the food and not for the big fat man who does the to go with a im better then you complex. And as i sit here writing this i just realized that i wanted the white bread and im not going back to say anything because i dont want to deal with him. Unfortunately i will no longer use newks for my companies catering. I believe tou should treat everyone the same no matter what your...
Read moreMixed reviews for this cute little place. Hubby said his was the best pizza he'd had in a while. Now he wants to go back just for that. My crab and lobster bisque was very good. I would absolutely order it again. The half turkey and avocado sandwich was bland and difficult to eat. Instead of being stacked on the bread, the ingredients were side-by-side on the crisp and rather dense and wide dark wheat roll. This made it impossible to get a bite containing both meat and veggies at the same time, and the avocado kept sliding out the long side of the split roll. It was awkward. I had to open it up and try to redistribute the components, but it was a bit of a mess. And it was almost completely flavorless, seemingly lacking even salt and pepper. But the ingredients were fresh and the sandwich generously portioned.
Whether you have kids or not, you should be aware that on Wednesdays kids eat free from 5-8pm. This is a nice place for families, but there were plenty of couples, groups, and a bustling take-out operation. They have a few different bottled/canned beers on ice. Some ladies were spinning yarn in the back corner booth, which was cool. I will certainly return, if only to satisfy Hubby's pizza cravings, and perhaps try a pie myself next time. I will revisit this review after I try more...
