We went Sunday after church, maybe it was the wrong time to go. First off, we have never heard of Smashburger prior to it coming to Summerville, SC, never have been before. We have heard from others that they have great burgers so it's a must try--we said great, will do! We waited in a line that was out the door for 25 minutes to order our food. (We weren't too upset over that since it was Sunday after church) Once we got to the front of the line, we noticed only one of the two registers was open taking orders...while other workers stood there doing nothing at all. We ordered our food, got our table. Realized that I only got two children's cups with the kids meal and not cups for our adult meals for my husband and I. Went back up to the side of the counter and asked for two cups, showed my receipt and was told 'You didn't order any other drinks so you need to pay for them'...oh ok, no big deal, I didn't realize I ordered everything separately (again, first time customer here!). However, I was then told that I could not order right there, I needed to go enter the back of the line and wait again to order two sweet teas. At this point, I was pretty upset, but went to the back of the line. (Honestly, the young girl taking my order should have said...would you like anything else with your order...a drink....?!? Who orders burger and fries with no drink?!) Waited ANOTHER 20 minutes to order two sweet teas. (again, only one register open). Sat down, and our food had yet to come out at this point. Another 10 minutes went by and we got our food. They forgot the fries that we ordered, had to ask for them to make them. The burgers were Ok. Nothing out of this world. Nothing I would go back for when you have FiveGuys across the street that beats them hands down and other local non-chain restaurants around the corner that are cheaper, made from scratch and to order, that are out of this world. The quality and taste of the burgers are between Sonic and Steak and Shake. I wouldn't return based alone of the poor service and wait. If we had excellent service, we may have returned for a different place to have a burger every once in awhile,...
Read moreIf you want to feel like your service is unwanted definitely come here! My boyfriend & I were on our way to Wayback Burger, but they were closing so we figured we’d go to another burger place. To our surprise we got to experience the LOWEST standard of customer service!! Mikalah began to take our order & told us we weren’t allowed to sit in the back of the store because they were closing then walked off and asked the manager to finish our order. My boyfriend ordered one of their large burgers & told the manager to add 2 things to the burger & when he got the sandwich and bit into it he realized it didn’t have the other condiments on it so they took his whole meal back to fix THEN gave him back the same burger he had already bitten with new toppings and now cold fries. When we asked them why would they give us back old food with new toppings and take the fries if they were gonna give them back, the sandwich maker, mikalah, the manager that took our order, & Andy all said because “nothing was wrong with it”. In reality they literally gave us back an already bitten burger and bun. At that point we just wanted our money back because the food was inedible, they didn’t want to give him new fries after his were cold because they took them and they already refused to make him a completely new burger even though they messed up on the order. As the manager & Andy were issuing the refund Mikalah was cleaning and jumped in the situation by telling me “you’re welcome” before I could even thank the manager. As we were leaving they continued to antagonize us. This was the worst and most unecessary experience at a burger place. It was only 2 orders there when we ordered, ours & a couple of friends, they weren’t busy and it was an hour from closing. Our friends who were also their complained about how salty & burnt their burger were but saw the way the employees reacted to us & refused to say anything. NEVER COMING BACK & I don’t recommend this place. The employees have “don’t care attitudes”, cooks wearing headphones, cashiers have horrible attitudes, while the manager and or owner just sits back...
Read moreI have never been treated this way by anyone working, ever. The lady behind the register was absolutely rude and straight up lied to me about my food being ready. My husband ordered ahead for pickup at 7:45 and I got there a little after 7:30 and I told her it probably wasn’t ready yet, but gave her the name just to check and when she said there wasn’t a bag up there with that name. I said I was totally fine waiting because I knew I was early. 7:53 rolls around and I’m still waiting when another lady working there asked for my name. Sure enough, both bags that the first lady checked were mine and then my milkshake had been sitting there too. The receipts on each bag and shake say 7:35, so it had been ready the entire time. When I mentioned this to her and asked her to remake the shake because it had been sitting for 20 minutes she was so rude, lots of attitude and refused to remake it. I asked her why she lied about my food being ready and let me sit there for 20 minutes and she just gave me an attitude face. I asked for her name and she said Amanda, but she knew I was very mad, so I’m sure that’s not her name- cameras don’t lie though, so if they’re so inclined, the manager will figure out who it was. I was legitimately appalled and honestly will never go here again. She totally ruined it for me, it speaks volumes to the type of work and demeanor accepted here.
And of course everything was cold, not lukewarm, but cold, when we got home to eat. So that ruins the entire meal with lettuce and whatnot on the burger. And not to mention fries and burger buns don’t reheat well. Overall, a totally horrible experience. This isn’t a super cheap place and I may as well have flushed $30something down the toilet. When we want burgers again, Smashburger is out- looks like we’ll be visiting...
