Yesterday, myself, my boyfriend, and another couple went to Town Tavern for the first Sunday of football. We chose this place for the outdoor patio with TVs so we could bring our dogs. Mind you I called BEFORE we went and asked two questions: 1) If there are TVs outside, will they be playing the Panthers game? 2) Is the patio dog friendly? Both answers were YES.
I am a die hard Carolina Panthers fan as this is my home team and I live in the Carolinas. This particular Town Tavern has an entire outside door covered in Panthers decor and writing, and their room off to the side is decorated in Panthers memorabilia. Now I know this is a "Bills bar" where Bills fans gather and cheer on their team, however, I would assume that since Town Tavern is located in South Carolina and the Panthers are the CAROLINA Panthers, I wouldn't have an issue watching the game. Boy was I wrong.
We had to sit outside because we had our dogs with us, and I wouldn't think it would be a problem since I confirmed ahead of time that the Panthers game would be on outside. I think they have somewhere around 7-8 TVs outside and only 2 receivers. Guess which game was NOT on? Instead the Bills was on 5-6 TVs and the Steelers game was on the other 2 (per the request of another couple there with their dog). I went inside and asked a server if at least 1 TV outside could show the Panthers and she said she would see what she could do. Another 5 minutes goes by (and so does kickoff) and nothing. Our server, Tosh, came back by and I asked her what she could do. She disappeared for a few minutes and when she came back, I was FLOORED by her response. She told me she got into it with her manager about it and ultimately the manager REFUSED to change the Bills game over to the Panthers. She tried her hardest and kept apologizing but it was NOT her fault at all. We paid our tab for the drinks we had already ordered and left. Now here's the thing, there was another large table outside of Panthers fans and they were also irritated at this. There were also 2 tables of Bills fans (without dogs) that could have just graciously been like "We'll go in and grab a table to watch the game so you guys can be outside with your dogs to watch the Panthers game." But then again, not everyone thinks like me.
We left and went to The Journeyman instead, where we could not only watch the Panthers game, but could hear it as well. If Town Tavern is going to be a proclaimed Bills bar, then take your Panthers stuff down and claim it as a Bills bar. This way, when Panthers fans are trying to choose a place to watch their team, they can avoid this place. Regardless I will NEVER come back, not only for this fact but the fact that the manager basically refused a request instead of trying to accommodate everyone involved. HUGE shout out to Tosh though for taking care of her customers! Her...

My wife and I went to the Towne Tavern on the evening of 03/28/24. It was a nice sunny day so we chose to sit outside because it is just too noisy inside. Shortly after we sat down another couple showed up and sat down with a dog, and this dog was barking constantly. It just would not stop. We are both animal lovers, but this was an ear piecing bark over and over and over. My first thought was how rude it was of them to put others through this, but when the staff came out, they did nothing, they just didn't care. Next, our food arrived.... Now let me preface this by saying that in the past year, all restaurants have gotten very chincy in how much food they serve, but when I looked at my platter and saw the tiny little paper cup of coleslaw, I was insulted to think they would even attempt to serve me what is not even a tablespoon of coleslaw, not to mention the small amount of fries. Normally I would just take a mental note of this and ignore it, but this was just ridiculous. I asked to see the manager. The manager arrived at our table and went on to tell us they were out of coleslaw, and he had told the kitchen staff that no one would want that little cup of slaw and that they should not serve it, but they did it anyways. I said okay, well, if that’s the case just give me some extra fries or something. He went on to explain to me that the coleslaw is just a “garnish” and because of that, he cannot substitute it for anything else. Really a garnish? In all my life I have never heard of coleslaw being a garnish. Clearly this restaurant doesn't care if their customers have an enjoyable experience. If you are thinking about going here, I would seriously give that another thought, this is not our first bad experience here, the place is noisy and the staff here are awful. Personally, that was the last straw for me. I will never give them my business again! But no worries they don't...

Atmosphere: 6.1/10 - The medium-sized interior and comfortable outdoor eating area are adorned with signed sports jerseys and memorabilia, creating an attractive setting for game watchers. The presence of numerous TVs enhances the sports-oriented vibe.
Service: 4.7/10 - Basic needs such as water refills are generally met, and service is attentive. However, the overall service lacks warmth and special touches that could improve the dining experience. The poor condition of the bathrooms, being dirty and smelly, significantly detracts from the overall impression of the tavern.
King Kong Burger: 5.8/10 - The burger was served well-done without inquiring about preferred cooking levels. The bottom bun became soggy quickly, and while the patty was ordinary, the cheese quality was noted as a positive aspect. Pricing was considered fair for the quality provided.
Mac n Cheese: 1.9/10 - This version of macaroni and cheese, consisting of ziti with a simple cheese topping, fails to meet the traditional expectations for the dish. It is not recommended based on the quality observed.
New Orleans Pasta: 6.2/10 - The pasta dish was well-received, featuring good presentation and a properly sized portion. The spice level was well-balanced, and the quality of the cooked chicken added to the overall pleasing flavor...
