I've now gone here four times and each time has been a fantastic experience.
When you walk in you order from one of the two registers. The first thing I noticed was that the menus are very clear and concise. There's no question as to what you're about to buy. They cook everything in the open, and so if you're standing there for more than 30 seconds there should be no surprises.
Pizzas are on the expensive side, with the most expensive large at $27, IIRC. Two larges without drinks could easily run $50-60 after tax. But the prices are RIGHT THERE so if you are surprised by your bill, well, perhaps math isn't your thing. Also, this is Neapolitan pizza (done right) so if you haven't experienced that before and are used to most of the delivery joints' blanketing their pizzas in cheese and a shovel of ingredients, you're not going to get that here. And while I'm a big fan of a shovel of cheese and ingredients, I also love Neapolitan pizza.
There's also a good selection of local taps... and Pernicious (Wicked Weed is owned by Anheuser-Busch, so they're not independent, and don't need my $'s, Pernicious is a good beer, but I'm not giving AB a penny). They also have some wines and bottled pop. There's a water/ice dispenser toward the back.
Inside and out there is ample bench seating, with the outside picnic tables unfortunately already showing their age with sagging.
I've now tried the Diavola, Pistachio, Raffaele, and Capricciosa pizzas and they're all excellent. Yes, the pistachio pizza is very good and I intend to order it again just like all the others on the list above, but I also intend upon ordering most of the rest of the menu. I was a bit confused about the "buffalo mozzarella" at first, but it is not "buffalo sauce", and I enjoy it.
I've also tried the cannoli, which has an excellent filling, and I intend to continue grabbing them from time to time. I have yet to attempt a salad or gelato, but I'm sure they're just as top notch as...
Read moreI can't say enough positive things about Inizio. Not only is the pizza amazing, but their customer service is above & beyond. Every employee I've ever interacted with goes out of their way to make sure you're being taken care of.
Last week, I was trying to order delivery via 3rd party for my kids & babysitter and couldn't get the right combination of "yes this" and "no that". To be fair, it was a very picky order with various food sensitivities/allergies, and 3rd party services in particular aren't always well-suited to handle that level of customization. I'm unfortunately used to having to work through these difficult orders but usually do it in person. I was about to punt and order something different for the boys but decided to try calling to see if there was any way to get the order correct.
I had the pleasure of dealing with Cody, who quickly understood what I was trying to order and then made it happen. I know these types of calls are such a PITA for our restaurants. Not only was Cody extremely helpful & polite, he actually thanked me for pointing out that they needed to tweak some things with the 3rd party delivery interface. Cody took note of everything we were trying to order, told me what to put into the 3rd party app, then said he'd watch for it to come through & personally make sure it was prepared the way we needed it.
The food alone had me coming back over & over, but the customer service & customer appreciation has won you a raving fan. We're so glad to have you in Fort Mill & hope this helps continue your success in...
Read moreI can’t remember the last time I bothered to review something but this place felt especially deserving.
I moved down here from New York about 4 years ago. I’m an Uber driver, I live outside of Durham/chapel hill North Carolina. I just happened to have a ride take me this way and I came here for lunch. The pizza and cannoli were so good that if this place was in New York I’d still be a regular. It’s not just up to par for New York. It’s fantastic. I wish there was a location closer to the triangle in North Carolina. I’d be in here all the time. Next time I’m in the Charlotte area, I’ll definitely be back.
I got a Pistachio Pesto pizza and a plain cannoli.
The pizza had that classic wood fired taste to it but it was a little less cooked than I’m used to for wood fired pizza. It was softer and more foldable but it wasn’t undercooked. It was just right. The pesto was great and the pistachios were an interesting change from pine nuts which are usually used for pesto. I really liked the pistachio, it worked well. The side of tomato sauce wasn’t necessary as the pizza was delicious on its own, but the sauce was really good too.
I wanted to try the cannoli in its natural state without any of the add ons, and it doesn’t need them. The cannoli itself is good enough on its own. I’m sure it would have been good with chocolate chips or pistachios but it didn’t need them. Crispy flavorful shell. Sweet fresh cannoli cream inside.
10/10 on everything. I don’t know when I’ll be out here again but I’m not going to forget...
