I’m so excited to have a Maxwell’s in South Jordan. As an East-coaster, I can attest to the authenticity of both their Philly cheesesteaks (yes they make them with whiz) and NY-style fold-in-halfable pizza slices. Note: unlike their locations in Salt Lake and Park City, this one does not serve alcohol and has a much smaller menu. It’s more pizza parlor than sports bar.
At $11 for a cheesesteak (toppings are free), Maxwell’s isn’t quite the value of DP, whose cheesesteaks are both bigger and less expensive. But quality-wise, Maxwell’s cheesesteaks are on par with DP’s (albeit a little different); and slightly better than Moochie’s (whose cheesesteaks I find inferior to DP’s). So if you’re a cheesesteak fanatic like me and looking to try something different, try one of Maxwell’s cheesesteaks (with whiz of course... although provolone is also an option). You won’t be disappointed.
The real draw for me though is Maxwell’s pizza. You won’t find a better NY slice here in Utah. The crust is perfection. Their gigantic 20” pizza for $21 will feed the whole family. Or you can buy it by the slice (and they’re gigantic slices) for $3.50.
Like everything on Soda Row, parking/access is a little bit of chore, but the food is well worth it. The customer service was superb, which counts for a lot in my book. I can’t wait to return and I’ll be recommending Maxwell’s to all of my family...
Read moreOur experience here was super frustrating. We have been wanting to try this place for a while but never have, and when we got here we remembered why we’d never come before. They only serve 20” pizzas. If you don’t want to buy and eat a whole 20” pizza, your option is either a pizza slice (with limited options) or a gluten-free pizza. So I got a Philly cheesesteak and my husband got a 20” Buffalo chicken pizza. After we ordered, they said it would be about 35 minutes. We were pretty shocked that a pizza place would take that long to make a pizza. They are not currently offering dine in other than eating on their patio, but they said they’d bring the food out to us once it was done. So after 40 minutes, I went back in to see where our food was. They tried to hand me the wrong pizza at first. Then they found the right food- my cheesesteak had been sitting there ready for who knows how long, but when I took it outside and opened it, there was no cheese on it. So I went back inside to get some... anyway, after the long wait, we finally got our food. The cheesesteak sandwich was one of the best cheesesteak sandwiches I’ve ever had- but I probably won’t come again because of how irritating our experience was. Also, the pizza wasn’t...
Read moreYummy pizza! It was ginormous too. That was actually the only size to choose from when we went. They weren't usually open at that time, I guess, but they had opened just for accommodating the concert goers. So I wish I could have also ordered by the slice in order to try their margherita pizza (I had to get pepperoni for the kids to eat). I saw others ordering by the slice but they wouldn't allow me to order that particular kind that night. Bummer. But what we did get was very very good. It was fun to watch the large pizza dough being shaped and tossed. We were also grateful for their restroom because the public ones around the corner had recently been vandalized and were closed (argh!). The wait was a good 25-30 minutes or so which was a drawback. But that is because nothing else was open besides the bar (no kids can go there of course! -- which left me no options). I was expecting food trucks to be present for the concert like they used to be. So Maxwell's was really smart to stay open that night!! I want to...
