I am not a religious man, but after spending a week in Tahoe I now worship at the throne of Sprouts Cafe. When it is time for me to leave this earth, I want to be placed in a biodegradable/compostable coffin sponsored by Sprouts - I would also like patrons at my funeral to drop blueberries into my grave because if I’ve learned anything from Sprouts, adding blueberries is always a good idea.
Let’s start with the food. For context, I treat my body like the junk drawer in your home - I throw a bunch of random things in there and hope everything turns out ok. The Cadillac Rice Bowl and Santa Fe burger transported me into a new world where I truly believe that if I run fast enough and it is a windy enough day I could potentially achieve flight. I have never been to Santa Fe, but I think if Sprouts brought their burger there the Mayor (most likely Saint Nick himself) would present them with a key to the city. I also had three Protein Blast smoothies (always add blueberries) over the course of a week and it might be pure coincidence but I can now do 2000 pushups without stopping.
Second, the service. The service was incredible each time my wife and I visited. If you are a middle aged man reading this, I just want to give you a heads up to take a deep breath in and out before reading the next line because I don’t want you to panic. The staff was comprised of mostly young people and there is an ipad that will ask you for a tip after paying…deep breath in and out because it’s ok and the staff deserves large amounts of tips.
Third, and this is a pitch directly to Sprouts, I loved this place so much that I want to franchise back in Brooklyn. Here is the catch, I don’t have the capital to start it and I know nothing about opening a restaurant but I will be your biggest supporter. Think about it. It’s ok if it’s a no, but just sleep on it.

Read moreEvery time I looked up good places for breakfast or lunch sprouts popped up and I had passed it many times on my way to Tahoe so we finally decided to give a chance for breakfast and it was a very nice find. It's probably the cleanest restaurant and kitchen I've ever seen. After talking to them they told me that they only serve turkey and no other meats so there's no grease at all in the entire business and they cook the turkey off site so there's no grease . I got a variation of huevos racheros. It came in a bowl with zucchini and broccoli and mushrooms and black beans and rice and cheese and avocados with a little bit of side chips and it was delicious. And incredibly healthy and was topped off with delicious salsa. staff was great. The young man that served us was a very affable and good natured kid and he was very proud out of the place that he worked :) I don't give a 5 out very often but this place was very good and healthy and just the right amount of food and the staff was top notch and I would definitely recommend for breakfast or lunch. There were lots of people coming and going so it seems to be a very...
Read moreRandomly chose this cafe for lunch today. It's November, it's cold, but they had outside fire pits and plenty of inside dining. There was a bit of a wait to get our order, but they had signs up that made this clear, so we weren't frustrated waiting to be served. We had no idea what to order, but they have a pretty extensive menu. My daughter had a bagel with egg and cheese, my wife had the hummus melt, and I had the veggie crunch melt. All of it was excellent. Very much one of the best sandwiches I've ever had and if I lived in the area, I'd probably eat here often. My wife's hummus melt had too much hummus for her, but I would have gladly eaten her sandwich, too. The egg on my daughters egg & cheese bagel was light, fluffy, and tasty. Friends had the nachos and they looked really good, too. The bathroom is gender neutral and was really clean. There's plenty of hand sanitizer stations and napkin dispensers inside and out. There's self serve for water (with ice). Again, if I lived nearby, this would be a go-to dining...
