My wife and I decided after a busy Saturday to relax from the kitchen and get a bite to eat. Dilema is always that we end up going to a restaurant that at the end did not satisfied our made a lasting impression. My wife like Thai Food, so do I but not the copy and paste that every restaurant serves with the same boring menu. My son who like to explore suggested Pla-Tu ,he never had been but heard that the place was very good,so we took his advice and went. We arrived at the restaurant right on Sunset and walk in ,the place was sober, modern ,clean, we were seated right away , by our waitress and handed menus. I started to scroll down the menu and they were so many exciting choices, new plates that i was very eager to start ordering. I ordered the Boa Bun with soft shell crab ,perfectly deep fry ,crispy and tender, nestled in a soft and white as snow Boa bun, delicious medium spicy sauce perfectly balance the dish. My wife ordered the spring roll deep fried ,crispy skin , not oily at all, but the menu described that black mushroom were part of it and they were none ,making the roll a bit boring, serve with sweet chili sauce. side to theses starter we order a green salad with ginger dressing ,generously served with many assorted cut vegetables. Next we opted for the same dish as It was a bit late ,we ordered the lightly fried chicken with seasoned rice, a all breast ,tender sprinkled with the dry shallots and crispy garlic , I requested a side of soy sauce that came warmed and complemented really well the all dish. But the star was the seasoned rice, nothing like the rice that everyone serves but a pressed little dome that seemed sticky ,and incredibly seasoned . Last but not least, we ordered the Thai donut , 4 large puff off beignet served with the condensed milk and grated nuts, delicious you have to tried them or take them to go. The place is very clean ,the staff very efficient ,friendly and quick, the food is very well executed , reasonably priced ,and the menu give no choice than to be back to try the many other choices to delight. Please Go these people are part ot the restaurant that deserve our business , reason why, you get what you pay for and leave happy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas not impressed with the cuisine at all. My parents shared the same sentiment. I went with my parents to eat lunch on a Sunday at this establishment. The Tom soup tasted like what the Chinese have been known to boil their eggs in (I will leave it at that). The platters that were recommend to us by our waitress were NOT tasty at all. The only reason why I am giving this establishment 2 stars is because the Kung Pao chicken appetizer was good. Everything else was not. In my opinion, our group was not happy with the food at all that has been so highly taughted in some articles in local publications.
The ambience? Very small space. A very loud and boisterous man came in to dine and wow was he loud. I could barely have a conversation with my parents.
I did see many food runners taking sushi dishes to tables. So maybe the Sushi is much better?
I do have to say that the prices were very reasonable compared to the over inflated prices at other eateries. Also, the texture of the chicken was strange. Be aware that there are restaurants out there that are serving chicken that is not real chicken and beef that is not real beef. They are plant based and I bet won't disclose this to you. And lab grown meat is coming folks! But I digress, I am by NO means implying that this establishment is serving "fake" protein sources. Just a heads up so that you may all know the truth and ask before you put something into your mouth.
Our server was excellent. Always attending to us and very cordial. And that's my. 02 cents worth (yes generation Z, this is a term that us( that grew up in the 80's) are quite...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found a South Miami gem and I want to share it with everyone! Well to be honest with you I must give the credit to our daughter. She brought us here about ten days ago and introduced us to owners, the staff, and the fantastic menu items. Since then, Iāve been waiting to go backā¦. So, last night I told my wife āDonāt worry I am going to cook tonight!ā.
This time we recruited our son, who emphatically gave his stamp of approval. So, these are the reasons we came back, and will continue to come back with new recruits.
The service. The moment we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with a smile and warm welcome from everyone working at the restaurant. Oui and Wendy are very friendly, and they took great care of us.
The menu. They have a vibrant selection of dishes that range from appetizers to entrees and desserts. We were four for dinner and started ordering appetizers to share. We had Bao buns, Tuna tower, Boneless Korean chicken, Papaya salad, Gyaza, Khao Moo Krob, Poke bowls, Chicken red curry, a couple of rolls, and Thai doughnuts (Did I mention we were very hungry?). Each one of these dishes had a wonderful presentation that not only stimulated our palate but also our eyes. We shared everything amongst ourselves.
The price of the dishes is just right, and the restaurant atmosphere is perfect for date nights, family dinners or just to meet with friends. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and they are located in the heart of South Miami.
I look forward to returning to Pla-Tu and trying the other items on the menu⦠Perhaps, the next time I offer to...
