2•14•25 came on Valentines day was great and peaceful had my stuff shrimp plate was very fulfilling and delish, hubby had the po boy catfish that was good to, the coleslaw is very fresh clod and very tasty. Had a small margarita bit it was way too salty like they put salt inside the drink rather than just on the rim, so kinda like sea water with alcohol so this time it was meh! Most times, it's always on par. I guess they just wasn't in the mood make it. That was my only disappointment because I like these here but not that day. Came in for a special holiday was great wasn't overwhelmed was very nice for a Valentines Day 2024. Abt 7ish my shrimp was great, and the catfish PO Boy was awesome too. I do recommend thisnplace been a while. I hadn't had some good fried shrimp, so it was perfect. And maybe the season helped to because they were a decent size. Came back again to order what is not on the menu. The stuffed shrimp is so delish! Love it. So i brought my sister for her birthday and she had the Oyster Po'Boy and she said it was delicious she couldn't finish it she struggled a bit but, ate it all lol. It was very good and said she would order it again and recommend it. They are not overly battered yet very well good serving on the sammich. As far as my fan tail po'boy is always on par, always consistent, and i love it. And it's been a long time. i haven't ordered the stuff shrimp. Wow, it is good now. I know you gonna say so little serving, but the stuffed shrimp is pretty good . It must try. Yet the stuffed shrimp is not on the menu. You must ask for it. For about 5 stuffed shrimp fries, coleslaw the dish is about $22.00, but it is delicious yet pricey, and yes, things have changed, and the prices have been higher. And i honestly, I always go for a certain dish there. The Fantail🍤🍤🍤 po'boy, I love it. And the frozen Margaritas 🍸 I'll stick to my shrimp PO-BOY, especially on shrimp season. The stuff shrimp plate is one of the last pics. Very delish mushroom burgers, too.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great Local Spot with a Fun Atmosphere! I checked out Blackbeards’, and it’s definitely a popular local spot—super busy with a huge parking lot that still filled up fast. Right away, I loved the atmosphere. It has a pirate ship kind of feel, with lots of wood everywhere that gives it a unique character. Food & Drinks 🍽️ Oysters – Really good, fresh, and flavorful. 🥣 Clam Chowder – Excellent! Definitely one of the best parts of the meal. 🥩 Half Chicken Fried Steak – Even though it was a half portion, it was still a lot of food! This was actually my first time trying chicken fried steak, and while the flavor was great, the steak was a little too chewy for my liking. Not just here, but in general, I don’t think it’s my thing. Service & Vibe The staff was fantastic—friendly, talkative, and really engaging with everyone. It felt like a place where both locals and visitors could feel at home. Speaking of locals, they were really welcoming and gave me some great recommendations on things to see in the area. Final Thoughts ✔️ Great atmosphere – Pirate ship vibes, lots of wood, and a fun, casual feel. ✔️ Good food – Especially the clam chowder and oysters. ✔️ Friendly locals & staff – The conversations and energy made it a good time. ⚠️ Chicken fried steak wasn’t for me – But that’s more personal preference than anything. I’d definitely come back to Blackbeards’, probably to try something different on the menu and enjoy the fun atmosphere again. If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out!

We ate an early dinner here on a Sunday afternoon in late October. Since it was beginning of “Off Season” it was not too crowded and zero wait. Our table view was of parking lot and street of homes, no ocean views available. The palm trees made it feel like vacation still so was okay. Our server was a young guy, very friendly and eager to answer menu item questions plus detailed the specials. When the food came, it was a lot so made the $20+ per plate worth it. It was decent seafood and sides. Only drawbacks were (1) there were flies buzzing around the windows near us, the table and menus seemed to have greasy films (2) a super LOUD annoying talker a couple of tables away from us cussed like a sailor and seemed to to think everyone wanted to hear his conversation at decibel level 1,000 and (3) Every (female) support staff not waitressing did NOT speak a lick of English. I found someone’s left behind cellphone in the women’s bathroom….when I tried to talk to a (female) staff member to explain/turn in, it took THREE separate girls looking confused, shaking their heads and speaking Spanish before I got an English speaking person to communicate issue to. This contributed to my feeling of being in an unfriendly atmosphere (atop the dirty feeling) and hence 2-stars. Overall, I could take it or leave it but wouldn’t go out of my way to go again or recommend it.

Someone recommended this, and since it was just pouring down rain, we couldn’t cook outside on the grill. We are so glad we went! The whole place was decorated so cute with giant fish hanging from the ceiling. It was well organized and very clean. Our waiter was outstanding! The only time my family gets to have shellfish is on vacation since I’m allergic to it. I shared this with the waiter and he said they have two kitchens for this situation. He spoke to the chef as well and I felt very safe eating here and confident I would not need my epi pen. They tried a crab cake for appetizer. Everyone loved it. The sauce with it was outstanding. My husband got the seafood player and said all of it was very good. My daughter got the shrimp and said it was excellent and she liked the creaminess of the potatoes—they didn’t even need gravy. My other daughter got the fish tacos and loved them. I had the chicken fried steak. It was amazing—AND I got two pieces of steak!! So good!! Dinner was wrapped up with the most heavenly rich chocolate cake and key lime pie. Everything was amazing!! The good was absolutely outstanding, but the service was above and beyond. The extra steps taken for someone with a shellfish allergy is pretty incredible. I’m so thankful fire places like this that allow my family to have the food they love and I can also feel safe. Just amazing!!

We went here for dinner it is a nice casual spot for lunch and dinner. We ate dinner here we ordered calamari it was fresh and fried crispy with a nice portion. My husband had the Asian blackened catfish with baked potato and coleslaw. The fish fillets were very large and very flavorful. I had the 3 fresh catch Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Salmon with baked potato and salad. The fish came with 3 types of dipping sauce. The fish was just ok and small portions for 26 bucks not worth it and they bland I guess because they were pan seared, I did get the salmon blackened it it more flavor. The Tuna portion had some tough gland on the inside so some parts were not edible. There were many choices on the menu that looked good but I wanted to try the fresh caught, kind of a disappointment. We also had black raspberry margaritas with premium alcohol it was supposed to be strong apparently but it wasn’t for us just more sweet drink that masked the alcohol. It did have a good taste more liquor could have been added though. Overall I enjoyed the visit, it was my birthday and my husband told Jose he was a great server but they didn’t sing happy birthday to me like they did at the other tables. That was another disappointment too!

Blackbeard’s Restaurant on South Padre Island has the reputation as the place to go when on the island. When we told our neighbors that we were going to South Padre Island, they said we had to stop at Blackbeard’s. So, we stopped on a Sunday evening for dinner. The restaurant was busy but not crowded and we were seated right away. This restaurant has a great vibe and is exactly what you’d expect for a restaurant in a beach community. My wife got the Blackbeard’s Seafood Platter with steak fries and house salad. She chose the Asian catfish as her fish option. This is a large amount of food, but it was mostly fried catfish. There were three shrimps, two small scallops, and a small amount of stuffed crab and shrimp with a huge plate of steak fries. The fried food was fine, but we weren’t blown away by any of it. I got the Ginger Teriyaki Ahi Tuna with French fries and house salad. The tuna steak was cooked perfectly, had a great flavor, and it was a large portion. I really enjoyed it and would get it again. Overall, we’re happy that we tried Blackbeard’s. The service was okay, the atmosphere was good, and the menu has something for everyone.
