I had the pleasure of dining at Grapevine Cafe on South Padre Island, and I was blown away by the delicious food and drinks they offered. The cafe had a charming and cozy atmosphere, with friendly staff who were eager to recommend their favorite dishes.
I started my meal with a cup of their freshly brewed Vietnamese coffee, which had a rich and robust flavor with a slight hint of sweetness. It was the perfect way to wake up my taste buds for the meal ahead. For my entree, I chose the Eggs Benedict Grapevine GF-V, which was a delicious twist on a classic dish. The eggs were perfectly poached, with a runny yolk that mixed beautifully with the hollandaise sauce. The homemade biscuits were flaky and buttery, and the sausage gravy added a savory touch to the dish.
I also had the opportunity to try the Apple Cinnamon Pancakes GF-V, which were light and fluffy with a subtle apple cinnamon flavor. The cinnamon roll French toast and French Toast Sucré GF-V were also standouts, with a perfect balance of sweetness and a hint of spice.
For those who enjoy a refreshing beverage with their meal, I highly recommend the Passion Fruit and Green Tea Refresher. It was a unique and flavorful combination that was both tasty and healthy. The Mango Fresco and Shaken Strawberry Shortcake Lemonade were also excellent choices, with fresh fruit flavors that were perfect for a hot summer day on the island.
The portion sizes at Grapevine Cafe were generous, and the presentation of each dish was beautiful and Instagram-worthy. The use of fresh, high-quality ingredients was evident in every bite, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Whether you're a local or just visiting South Padre Island, Grapevine Cafe is definitely worth a visit for a memorable dining experience.
Overall, I would give Grapevine Cafe a five-star rating for their delicious food, friendly service, and unique menu offerings. It's the perfect spot for a casual breakfast or brunch with friends or family, and I can't wait to return to try more of their mouthwatering dishes and...
Read moreFirst impression walking in, it STUNK, the smell was so bad, but I figured everywhere here probably smells like that. It was off-putting, but we decided to try it anyways.
Ordered a Cuban and a Club to go, and we were quoted 25-30 minutes. That would be fine, but it ended up that we got our food about an hour later, the bread was hardly toasted/soft, and we got the wrong side. When I went back in to ask for the sweet potato fries, they said they ran out right before our order. There was no communication to that, they just substituted it for regular fries and assumed it would be fine/we wouldn't notice(wife was not happy about that). They kept the side of fries I brought back to exchange, so my wife got no fries at all.
As I was waiting, around 45 minutes into the wait, a server and a cook(?) brought a table over to where I was sitting, and didn't even acknowledge my presence as I had to get up from my seat(it was the only chair to sit on while waiting for To-go) or they would have damn near put the table on top of me. I thought they'd have asked me to stand or at least let me know they were gonna put the table there, but instead they must have been in such a rush they didn't care about running a table into a guest.
The manager Raphael came over, and said he couldn't figure out how to refund the ticket, but instead voided the order, saying that it would refund my charge faster than doing an actual refund. I didn't think about it at the time, but voiding an order on Toast does not refund the check. You have to refund the check after the payment is captured at the end of the day. So I know my order was not refunded, but instead voided(meaning in the system, it never got made). No refund issued unless he goes back in and does it after the payments for the day are captured. Not getting a refund after all I guess.
All in all, I will not be returning here. Poor customer service, poor etiquette, and unacceptable overall experience.
Update: I don't live anywhere near here. We drove down for the weekend from...
