We were told this was one of the best places on the island to eat. The food was amazing and it was really good. However, the service was not great at all. I use to be a server so I’m very patient and can read a room. There is a difference between being very busy and completely forgetting about a table. When we first arrived, the girls at the door were incredibly rude. When our table was finally ready, the said our name wrong ( which wasn’t a problem) but we corrected the lady and she rolled her eyes and said “yeah y’all’s table is ready”. That should have been our que to go somewhere else. Once we sit down, we order drinks. Our non alcoholic beverages came, but our alcoholic drinks never did. We made our orders super simple and was super patient as we could tell our server loaded with tables and the restaurant was under staffed. I had to ask politely 4 times for my water to be refilled. Some people in my party didn’t even get drinks with their meals. After we ate, our server then decided to bring us out our alcoholic beverages that were so watered down that you could see where the alcoholic and the water were parted. We declined taking the drinks and luckily had them removed from our tab. I know being a server can be stressful, especially if your restaurant is under staffed. We could tell our server was trying to do his best. The management should have stepped up and helped the server out. He was 3 6+ tops and a few smaller groups he was serving. I just hope if the server or management sees this that please ask for help or if you see your servers struggling to help them. I also think our table was the table that was forgotten about since we were patient and trying to be understanding. Even after the mess ups, my server made conversation with us and I could tell he was just overwhelmed. It wasn’t until the end of our meal he was suggesting food items and I’ve been there before, it’s tough. This review isn’t directed towards him. It’s a 2 star review because management didn’t step up and help their server who was trying his absolute best to attend to all of his tables out. If you go there with a big group during the busy times, this may happen to you. If you go with a smaller group, I think you’ll have a better experience than we did. It’s a good thing they have some of the best, if not the best, Mexican food I’ve ever had because that made...
Read moreSAVE YOUR MONEY!! We had a family of 8 excited to try something new while on SPI. Now, very much thankful they were closed the first 3 nights we attempted. We made it the last night we were there and the atmosphere was ok, the waitress was nice but she didn't attempt to ask questions when she didn't understand our requests and just assumed. We ordered all sodas no adult drinks and our appetizers were calamari and queso. 3- ordered beef tacos, 2- ordered hamburgers, 2-ordered fish, chicken and shrimp baskets and 1 ordered fajita nachos. We also ordered 1 order of fried shrimp requesting 2 plates to share. Calamari was ok, queso was just a small bowl of melted cheese with a spoon full of hb meat, no Pico or anything in it for flavor. ($10.99 for cheese really?) The shrimp was brought out with 2 pieces on one plate, when asked for the 7 piece with 2 plates. Instead of adding 5 more shrimp and a plate she brought 7... and ofcourse charged for it. smh Now to the food... no complaints from the 2 who ate hambugers except the .85 cents for mayo. The 2 that ate fish, chicken and shrimp baskets we completely over cooked and hard to eat due to the over cooked toughness and let's not forget small.and flavorless. I ordered the fajita nachos, lots of chips with beans and cheese that had been microwaved causing the beans and cheese to be hardened and it had more jalpenos than meat, no veggies at all so ordered a $1.50 condiment cup of Pico to add flavor. And the 3 who ate beef tacos ended up sick. My middle child got sick by the dumpster before leaving and my 2 girls were sick before we made it back to the airbnb. So glad it was our last night or my daughter would have had a miserable vacation. Instead the drive home was miserable for her. All this for $255.00. They really need to work on food. We try new places after and this I can say...
Read moreIf you are looking for service that doesn't meet bare minimum standards, this is the place to come to. I entered this restaurant, waiting to be seated 5+ minutes all the whole servers were making eye contact with me and walking away. I finally stopped a server and asked to be seated. He took me to a dirty table even though there were plenty of clean tables and wiped the table off with just a paper napkin and walked away.
I hope you bring your own drink because getting drinks is a feat on its own. Ordered water 2x with the server (1st time when I asked for vegetarian recommendation and 2nd time when placing an order) and never got the drink until I tracked the manager down. She looks at the order and tells me I never placed a water order, and I told her that I did and in fact, reminded the server a couple of times about water, including when placing food orders.
This restaurant has vegetarian menu so there were some good options and I ordered chalupa and fajitas. The fajitas came out without the tortillas, and toppings listed on the menu (tortillas, pico de Gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream, lettuce) never came. The chalupa was good and I don't believe he forgot anything.
Also, I hope you enjoy eating with your hands, because there were no utensils and server never came back to check back on me. I had track another employee down for bill, after meal and I was waiting 15+ minutes all the while seeing the server lounging around doing nothing. I finally paid and left after having the worst experience I had after a long drive from San Antonio.
If you prefer not to be served drinks when ordered, half a meal missing, eating with hands, waiting long time and repeatedly reminding server what is needed, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I recommended going somewhere else for better...
