Ten Second Noodle was one of my wife and my favories in Midvale, Utah, when they were located there. The have relocated to 33rd South State in Salt Lake City. Perhaps they have a new owner. I don't know. We went for dinner yesterday. here is our experience.
Food:
My wife and I both ordered noodle soup like we always have, expecting that the vegetables and meat would be served on a box that we used to add the meat, vegetables and noodles to boiling broth. Instead, we were given soup in which everything was already mixed together. We were not told about this; the soup was delivered with everything already mixed together. That was disappointing. The waiter acted as if that was normal, but we noticed that the Asian woman and child that arrived later than us were given a box with eight different options for food and vegetables. After they were served, the waiter told us that there were no clean boxes when we ordered so they mixed everything in for us. That was disappointing, especially since our soup did not have the small amount of meat and dried fish that is normally contained in the box. I am vegetarian so I usually give the meat to my wife, but the food in the box was not served to us. The noodle soup was okay, but the experience is different when we don't add the items to the boiling broth ourselves.
Ambiance:
In Midvale, the restaurant had had one wall with art and a description of the original 10 second noodle journey. I found that very relaxing and beautiful. In the new location, one wall has bright LED designs like you might see in Hong Kong. It is okay, but not relaxing and not something that I personally find beautiful. In Midvale, the restaurant door was open to the reception area. The seating area was separate and pleasant. In the new location, the door opens to the seating area and a blast of cold air greeted us every time the door was opened for new patrons or takeout. It was a bit uncomfortable.
Summary:
Ten Second Noodle dining experience on 33rd South was disappointing for my wife and me. In Midvale, this was one of our favorite restaurants and we always looked forward to dining there. I worked in Sandy and I would often stop by the Midvale restaurant to bring soup home to my wife when she was sick. After yesterday evening's experience at 33rd South, the restaurant has gone from one of our favorites to one that we might try again someday, though not in the foreseeable future. That makes me sad, but it is how...
Read moreI've tried to come to this establishment three times, but it just had not worked out. I don't think Salt Lake has opened a place like this before and it was quite exciting for my friends and I to try this place. This shop took over an old pho place and the lay out did not change. It might be because it's new and they're understaffed, but they tend to have long wait times during the busy hours.
Their menu is pretty interesting, it's almost like a pre-set hot pot order with other items you can add on with additional cost. There isn't much variation with each option, but there are mainly, I think, 6 different soup options and each soup comes with 5-6 different meat/no meat options. I'm a very big fan of Chinese mala flavor, but they do not offer mala and the closest thing to mala is their hot and spicy soup (I think that's what it's called).
Their soups come in this boiling hot ceramic pot that is not on a stove, but it's just extremely hot and it cools down over time. That is why they tell you to put the meat in first. The portions of the sides you can put in the pot are small and it all looks like it will not fill you up in the end. The noodles are what carries most of it, which I'm not sure if I like that. I wish they gave you a little bit more sides, but I did indeed leave full because of the rice noodles.
Overall, it tasted good. The price is not bad for what you get, but I don't think it's that worth it. It's just okay. I wish they gave you more sides with your soup, but I think they just keep it small to keep the cost down and that's why they heavily rely on the noodles to fill you up. The whole place is just okay, not good or bad; it's priced fairly and...
Read moreGET FOOD POISONING AT THIS RESTAURANT!!! I am absolutely devastated to share my experience at this restaurant. What started as a night out with my girlfriend quickly turned into a nightmare when she got food poisoning after eating here. I cannot express the anger, frustration, and fear that consumed me as I watched her suffer through an entire night of vomiting and diarrhea. It was a truly traumatizing experience that left me feeling helpless and scared for her well-being.
To make matters worse, this all could have been avoided if the restaurant had just taken basic measures to ensure the safety and quality of their food. The chicken leg in the original chicken leg rice noodle with beef tribe was clearly not cooked properly, and it sickened my girlfriend just an hour after she ate it. It's unbelievable to think that a restaurant would be so careless with their food preparation and hygiene practices, especially when people's health is at stake.
I was on the brink of sending my girlfriend to the ER, and it breaks my heart to think that there are probably other people out there who have had similar experiences at this restaurant. It's time for them to take responsibility and start prioritizing the health and safety of their customers. I urge anyone considering dining here to think twice before putting...
