I took my mom to Park City, about 40 minutes from home, and ended up at The Bake Shop for lunch. $40 for 1 slice of buttered bread with Avocado, a "beignet", 1 vietnamese coffee and a brownie. For the amount of food we received, $40 was way over priced. The beignet was NOT a beignet but a thick drier roll with granulated sugar. The Avocado toast was toasted so long my mom couldn't cut it with a knife and could only eat a 1/3 because it was so hard ... 1/3 of the Avocado was brown and had to be cut away. The owner and baker was at the counter and although she was pleasant, asked towards the end of our meal after noticing multiple times that my mom couldn't hardly eat what she was given, if everything was OK. My mom said the bread was too hard to cut and/or eat. The woman said "well, it is a crusty bread". She didn't apologize but asked if she wanted another piece of bread, she declined. The coffee was mediocre at best and didn't taste like Vietnamese coffee at all. We never tried the brownie. We won't be back but at least we tried...
Read moreI visited the bake shop looking to get some breads for the week. I got a baguette, piece of Focaccia, and a ham and cheese croissant for $25.. at this price I would expect everything to be top tier. Sadly, the croissant and focaccia were underbaked. I thought the bottom of the focaccia might have smudges of butter on it, but realized it was underbaked dough. Im pretty sure the croissant also was not traditional croissant dough, felt and tasted more like underdone pie crust? It was very dense dough with no crunchiness of a traditional croissant on the exterior. I will say the folks that helped me were kind and the shop is bright, clean, and spacious. If you are going to visit, I’d examine the items you are buying (especially the bottom) before leaving to exchange for fully baked...
Read moreIncredible pastries and incredible service. My family and I were in town staying at Newpark for my wedding over the summer, and we stumbled upon The Bake Shop. It turned to be our regular breakfast spot for the long weekend! We even got a selection of pastries for myself and my bridesmaids getting ready and it hit the spot with how fresh and flavorful and unique everything was. My favorite was the Earl Grey Cruffin! The service was incredible and the owner was so nice and informative! Highly recommend and next time I visit Park City, I will be...
