Updated review: I am not lowering the stars on my review because this place really does have the best coffee and chai in the Memphis metro area. Came here for the first time in two months and was shocked by the downturn in hygiene practices. My nose started running when we were in line - I guess as an allergic reaction to the grime? Gordon Ramsay would be disgusted. At least an inch of dust looked caked on the rafters. The lights over the station where they make the drinks were also very dusty. String lights across the entire store covered in cobwebs. Very concerning as this significantly lowers the air quality. The dust could fall on people and in their drinks and food with the slightest gust of wind. Someone needs to invest in a ladder and add this to their cleaning list on a weekly basis. You just canât have this type of environment in which food is served to the public.
Previous review: We met with a client here and it's our new favorite. Best chai. Best lattes. Their croissants are insanely good. Every person that works there is a pleasure to interact with, making recommendations and explaining menu items. These guys really know their coffee and have plenty to say about it. Our names/orders are remembered (shoutout to Nick!). They have a trash can right by the entrance. Napkins readily available. Comfy seating. What more could we ask for?? Oh yeah! They are closed on Sundays. That's our only complaint! Please be open on Sundays :) We literally drive all the way from Collierville just to go here. We've even made detours on our way out of state just to have a Coffee Central coffee for the drive instead of a Starbucks. Very very thankful that our client recommended this place! We are definitely going to schedule more meetups at Coffee Central...
Read moreUnfortunately, 1 star for service, not for quality. I ordered a large coffee with half and half. She proceeded to put in fat free half & half, and I politely asked her to use real real half & half. She argued with me that fat free is good and the same consistency as real creamer. I reiterated that I requested real half & half, and when she finally relented she threw the container on the counter and stammered as she retrieved a carton of the real stuff. She acted very put out that I wanted real cream. This is very off-putting as a customer. I am trying to support local business, but I'll just go to Starbucks (coffee is actually cheaper) if this is the service I can expect.
Just tried CC again 4-15-22, still 1 star. Ordered a 20 oz iced coffee with sugar and half & half. Large board says $4.00, they charged me $4.50 + $1.20 for cream and sugar! I asked for the manager, and she said "the board is wrong", with a smug attitude. I asked why I was charged for cream and sugar, she just smiled. Just know that you may pay more than you expect, and the "extras" here...
Read moreWe were in Southaven for a couple days and Googled local coffee shops on our first evening. Coffee Central popped up, so we stopped in after dinner. Best choice we could've made! Drink options are phenomenal (if you need a good jolt, ask about the off-menu "Cowboy"), they serve amazing treats & snacks from various local shops & artisans, and the service is top-tier. The staff & owner are super friendly and can offer suggestions if you're looking for things to do or places to visit in the metro area. We loved it so much we made a point to go back on our last day in town. My 8yr-old (who's extremely sensitive to a place's vibe) insisted on putting some of her own money into the tip jar "because this place is really nice!" †We will definitely return next time we're...
