If I could rate this place a ZERO.. I would. I've been to this location before (probably over a year ago, though I've ordered online - and that's been an experience as well) and I guess I should have seen the writing on the wall. I don't even like writing reviews, but sometimes, it's simply necessary, like this. I took my cousin from out of town to Starter's Southfield yesterday, I ordered wings and fries, she ordered steak bites, mac-n-cheese and asparagus. My order, along with her asparagus came out first - which was odd, then about 4-5 minutes later, they bring out her mac-n-cheese. Now we're looking at each other like, "what?" Why are they bringing sides out 1 at a time, and where are the darn steak bites. So I told her to eat some of my chicken until it comes, so she took 1 piece. After waiting another 5 minutes, I stopped the hostess who was walking by, and told her the situation. She was like okay, she'll go check on the bites. I'm like no, we need you to take her sides back and bring out her whole meal at once, by the time the steak come out, her sides will be really cold. She agreed, and took the plates - NOW the bone from the chicken my cousin ate was sitting on the plate with the asparagus. The lady takes it back.. we waited another 7-10 minutes, and another waitress was heading over, we like, YES here come the steak bites...finally!! She sat the plates down... steak bites, mac-n-cheese and asparagus.. and wouldn't you know.. they brought the food out with the chicken bone STILL ON THE PLATE!! Now we're like WOWWW!! First of all, we asked for everything fresh and hot together, they had the audacity to bring the plate back with the eaten chicken bone still on the plate. They didn't even heat the sides us, just brought it back to her. They didn't even think to "fake" if they had removed the bone and heated the food up, we probably wouldn't have thought otherwise. Absolutely horrible experience. No one asked how the food was, no one apologized for the wait, for such an awful experience and poor service provided - heck, we never seen a manager go by - employees were having their personal food delivered - one employee stood at the next table over and was talking to another customer drinking her Starbucks. The employees were more interested in singing and talking versus waiting on their customers. All the while, I knew I wasn't going to leave a tip, however, our waitress wasn't completely horrible, she did okay, but could have done a better job of making sure our food came out together and hot, she seemed to be a nice girl, so I wasn't going to penalize completely - so right as I'm getting ready to leave, I drop a $5 bill on the table. Then immediately started thinking, should I leave this - and I'm saying it out loud. My waitress must've been walking by cause as soon as I said that, she turned around and snatched that $5 bill up so quick.. all I could do is laugh! Typically I would request a manager, cause they gave no $$ off, didn't do anything to rectify the situation or make us want to come back.. but we were so ready to get out of there, we just wanted to be done. At the end of the day, I said that would be the last time I go there. So sad, as I was so happy when they initially opened in Southfield. Obvious poor management. Read moreUp until my most recent experience, I would’ve given this restaurant 4/5 stars. When I came in to eat or just have cocktails, I’d have no issues with my food nor my service. This past experience, I had issues with both. I called the restaurant to order my husband some food to-go for his birthday. I told the hostess I wanted to order steak bites, shrimp, and a baked potato. She then ask if I wanted a half or full order of steak bites and shrimp and how I wanted the potato. I told her I wanted a half order of steak bites with grilled onions, 6pc shrimp, and a regular baked potato. She told me it’ll be an hour for the baked potato. I said okay see you in an hour. An hour later, I arrive to the restaurant to pick up his food. I paid for the order. I then notice on the receipt it says steak bites with mushrooms and onions and a loaded baked potato. I went up to counter to tell the hostess I only wanted steak bites with onions and a regular baked potato. Then the shrimp wasn’t on the order at all. Instead of apologizing to me about the error, she tells me in a nasty tone that it’ll be 25 minutes before the shrimp was ready after waiting an hour to even pick up the order on a potato and to just sit down. At this point, I proceeded to talk with the manager to tell her what happened so the manager put in the order. While waiting on my order, there’s another customer coming in to pick up the exact order I paid for. I then went up to the counter again to see if my order was even in the system. Turns the dumb hostess never put in my order. So instead of the manager apologizing to me or doing something as small as either offering me some money off my bill, a free appetizer, or drink for my inconvenience (yet offers another customer who order was messed up something to drink), I get asked if I called the wrong restaurant like I’m a dummy. I said the person answered the phone saying Starter’s Southfield. Once my food comes, I realized I only have the shrimp and baked potato. So I’m waiting again on the steak bites. After finally getting the steak bites, I waited over an hour for an order that should’ve taken no more than 30 minutes. Although the food was still good like it was when I went there before, the service was so trash to the point they’d never have to worry about me ever entering that restaurant. I went here to this location for the first time on Saturday, January 14, 2023 for happy hour with three friends. The experience for a first timer was not ideal. The general manager is extremely rude, and I believe she was under the influence when my group and I were there. She tried to argue with me about a drink she had given me that was half way melted due to sitting at the bar for over 30 mins. My request was completely dismissed by her to have another one made and she had slurred words while on the job and trying to tell me right from wrong.
Our waitress was alright, up until this portion of the night which was a complete turn off from the overall experience in the restaurant. Due to the services I received, I did not leave a tip on top of the general manager not caring about customers. My card was charged additional fees by the merchant after I left the establishment and was posted on my account Tuesday, January 17, 2023. I called the establishment to talk to someone, on Tuesday and was given the run around and then told I’ll get a phone call from the general manager of the owner, no one has called.
I called again on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 and was given the run around again and I waited before I called because I was told I was going to get a phone call earlier in the day and did not. A waitress answered and said no one was available and they would call me back within an hour, no one didn’t return the call at all.
