Wow I was thoroughly surprised with this place. In the midst of suburbia close to DFW. Honestly when was the last time you found decent and authentic Ethnic food near an airport?? We came for a late dinner (8p) and it was one of the few places still open. The ambience of the restaurant is right on, similar to any sushi real sushi bar. They did forget those ubiquitous giant gaudy red lanterns lolol. Just kidding I don't miss those. The servers were were prompt and attentive. But oh the food! We ordered Chicken Katsu, Tonkatsu Ramen, and Salmon Skin Roll. Holy cow. My friend said the Katsu was like the Katsu he had in Tokyo. The Tonkatsu was just as good as Zen Box Izakaya which was my top pick from my Ramen tour. The broth was deep and the car siu was insane. The bonus was the egg was seasoned which was a nice surprise. It made up for the fact that it wasn't med-rare. And last but not least, I was out of my mind with the Salmon Skin Roll. It's so rare to find it on a menu, so I had to get it. For the uninitiated salmon skin is like bacon of the sea. They deep dry the skin and put it in sushi. But these guys cut the skin with a little meat on. Man the bite is like what you witness on the original Japanese Iron Chef shows. You take a bite of the pickled ginger first for the sour and slightly sweet, the you get the veggies and the vinegar from the sushi rice, and then the explosion from the saltiness and the salmon oil from the salmon "bacon." HEAVEN!

Well if you only get one thing on a trip to Dallas, it's salmon skin roll at...

I’m giving 3 stars today because of my last 2 visits: same server both times. food and quality is great and Sakana has been my go to lately. You guys moved me from my usual place that I used to go for years due to ownership change. I’ve been happy until the last couple of visits. You have a new server and perhaps new staff. Greeted and sat just fine but after downhill. 1st time. No follow ups on our drinks, bill, etc. I let it go because food and quality is great. This last week Friday: sat down, order taken. Never asked if we want any drinks or other recommended. Then we didn’t hear from our server. Had to flag her down. There were 2 tables with guests, us and another couple. They all hung out in back and was more focused on 3rd party orders. We stuck with water but never came back to refill. Good thing person sweeping filled our glass and took our empty plates. Server never came back if we wanted to order anything else, dessert, etc. felt cheated. Another sad part, where was our little complimentary dessert that each meal comes with, the ice cream filled fish pastry piece. My wife told me ask to place an order I wanted to, but at this time, when you give me a bill, tells me to leave. I think you might have lost a customer and leaving revenue on the table. Time to try my old place or find another. Sad part, I’ve hyped you guys up to our friends but I think I’ll have to retract. Hope you can fix this. So far you and my west coast friends love this place...

I eat sushi pretty regularly and decided to give this restaurant a shot. I had the crab Rangoon’s, California roll, and an eel avocado roll. The main problem that I had with my food was the sushi. The seaweed that was rolled within It reminded me very much of a rubbery Band-Aid. It was almost not chewable. After chewing for a while, I was still able to take out the whole strip intact, which is very odd for seaweed. I’m not one to ever complain but I was hoping I would better their business if I at least let them know. I let my waitress know and she said that she would let the owners of the restaurant know. I did not see her go to the owners or go to anyone. I just felt like my comment was brushed off. I don’t think that the service was as good as it could be either if you can’t even act like you’re taking care of someone’s concerns. If you’re looking for good fresh sushi, I would...

The restaurant was nice but the sushi just didn’t ā€œhitā€ for us and this might solely have been due personal preference. We got the following rolls: - Sakura: felt this was very basic. - Sakana Soul: Had far too much cream cheese. - Special Dragon: We weren’t fans of the barbecued eel. I initially thought it might just be that we don’t enjoy the bbq essence when it comes to sushi, however, I remembered that we do enjoy smoked hamachi and wagyu over sushi at other restaurants so I think may just be the bbq eel that we don’t like. We also ordered the yellowtail heaven which I thought was a tad on the dry side. It also came on a bed of seaweed/something similar, which I did not enjoy but my fiancĆ© did. Our total bill was $95 with tip which also felt steep for 3 rolls and an app. However, the restaurant absolutely did not skimp on the quantity so maybe the price could be justified.

I love sushi and am always looking for good sushi places. This is one of the most well known sushi šŸ± place in upscale Southlake. The atmosphere is superb and classy, perfect place for team lunch and business meetings. They have a very diverse menu, however lots of them has alot of imagination crab meat. Not that it’s ever a problem but majority of the rolls have it. I order to go a few time. The quantity does not disappoint. It’s alittle pricier than other sushi place but we are talking about Southlake, but you get your money worth it, the size of each roll is larger than usual. The platting decoration are very lovely sometime they add fresh flowers, šŸ’ a very nice touch.
