Last week was our 24th annual jetski festival in Myrtle Beach. We have been going to the provision co for lunch for many years at Southport and Holden beach. Always has been a great experience u till this year. We are a mature group of experienced boaters and career professionals. It has been a few years since we went to Southport so we went this year.
It was terrible experience due to a new manager. I think his name is Zack Wooden. From the minute we walked in he had a bad attitude towards us he asked exact how many were in our group. I said about 30. He said he didn’t want about. He wanted the exact number. I said I haven’t counted. It might be 29. Might be 31. But approximately 30. He said NO! With a nasty attitude. He said get everyone up there for a head count before anyone sat down or ordered. So I yelled for everyone in jetfest come up front. Then he said NO! Just leave. He said we were taking up all his dock space. It was almost 2:00. Lunch rush was over. Lots of empty tables and no boats waiting for a slip. I explained one boat would fill up a slip with only 2-4 people. We have 8-10 in each slip and we spend well and tip well. He said he didn’t care. So I walked away and let some of the ladies try to talk reason with him. They explained we didn’t have to all sit together. He said NO! We must all sit together and be on one check with gratuity added to the bill. They told him we couldn’t do one check but needed separate checks per couple. He said NO! Leave now. He didn’t want our business. We probably would have spent close to $3,000 at the slow time of his day and tipped more than the 18% he was going to add to the bill.
We left. The Inlet View restaurant was happy to have our business. So was the Big Chill restaurant. Needless to say we won’t be going back to either provision company in the future.

Read moreThe best parts of this place are the conch fritters and the fantastic view with the location on the water. I got the crab cake dinner and I thought the cakes were quite tasty. The yellow fin tuna and shrimp were also very good, but I will say that, for the price you pay for them, they could be a bit more elevated side choice wise (I did enjoy the cucumbersalad, though). Also, be prepared to wait a while to get seated (especially on the weekend). We went on a Sunday evening and had to wait about an hour before getting a table (but we still got to sit by the water while waiting). I'd also like to share their whole system of seating you and getting your food because it's very unique and a good thing to be prepared for when you go here. So, first you give your name to someone who stands out front. Then, you can go inside the small ordering/checkout area and take pictures of the menu (no paper copies). You then get your own drinks either from the fridge of alcoholic beverages or the coke machine. This is on the honor system (you will report your drinks at the end of your meal when you check out). You then wait somewhere outside until your name is called, and, when it is, someone will ask you for one of your personal belongings to mark the table that you are supposed to sit at after you order inside. Also, make sure that everyone in your party is around when your name is called otherwise you won't be seated. Once you order and find your table your name will be called again to deliver your food. Just wave your hand a in the air so they know whose table the order is for. When your finished eating, you get in the line to check out where you will report your drinks and pay. We ordered 4 entrées and 2 orders of conch fritters and a few drinks and the total came out to be around 106. Overall, I very much enjoyed eating...
Read moreThis waterfront 4.7 restaurant exceeded my expectations! I figured the location was the reason for the higher rating, but the food, service and atmosphere are excellent.
Provision Company is in the center of the restaurant row on the waterfront in Southport.
The turquoise building and the covered outdoor seating right next to the docks called us in for our late lunch.
Order at the counter and choose a beer from the cooler, or iced tea or soda from the filling station.
They take your order and you go out and choose a table. There's an outside bar if you want a mixed drink.
It's all based on the honor system and you pay on your way out.
They call your name when your order is ready and they bring it to your table.
We ordered the two recommended platters: Thee Special, which had a 1/4 lb of peel and eat shrimp, a deviled crab cake, and a small corn cob. The second platter was the Deviled Crab Cake Platter, which had three large crab cakes, the tomato and cuke salad, and the potato salad.
We enjoyed the FABULOUS food with a bottle of beer and a $7 house margarita. Check out our lunch view, too.
The corn was fresh with a little crunch, the crab cakes were so flavorful and moist, and the shrimp was so good. It was very messy, but so plentiful. The tomato and cuke salad was very light and fresh.
Both platters were about $17 each and felt very hardy for that price point and quality. Multiple servers dropped by to check on us and make sure there was nothing else we needed. Everyone was so friendly.
Provision Company is such a gem. Fresh air, sunshine, great food and service. Perfect location to watch the sunset. Highly...
