We waited in line for 20 minutes before finally getting acknowledged by the staff. Someone finally approached us with a blank piece of paper to take our names down. As we are waiting for a table, groups of diners are leaving, and the staff left these tables sitting empty for 10+ minutes. There were also empty tables outside and a table by a window without guests sitting at them. We still stood in line for nearly half an hour. We were eventually seated. There were 2 menus already available at the table, but the menus didn't have beverage or desert options on them. We had to guess what was available to us. I heard and saw coffee beverages leaving the bar area, but there were no options listed anywhere. We put our orders in, and the food came out quickly, about 15 minutes. So it took twice as long to be seated as it did to actually get our food. The food that I ordered was below average. The burger didn't have much flavor, and it was greasy. My wife enjoyed her salad, but the salad had peanuts on it instead of cashews. It took another 10 minutes to get and pay for our meal. I was hoping I would enjoy this cafe, but the staff was clueless, the food was mediocre, and the menus didn't clearly state the products available to the consumer. There are clearly a lot of missed opportunities for this establishment, if only they had some...
Read moreThe food at Cafe Koa is very unique as it covers a variety of flavor palettes while still catering to traditional breakfast and lunch classics. It was the food that brought us back to Cafe Koa a few separate times over this past year.
However, the kitchen/management arbitrarily decides when to shift from their “brunch” menu to their lunch menu. We arrived at Cafe Koa at 11:45 a.m., less than two hours after they opened and we assumed that we would be served their brunch menu. Without notifying our party of 6, the kitchen switched menus before we were sat 12:15 p.m. Nowhere on their website can be found an exact time for when this switch occurs, and management insisted on this switch in menus happening due to customer request. This is highly unprofessional to not at least have this fact stated somewhere in their online presence. Management insisted that they “cannot be held to a time” as to when they switch their menus despite this being an extremely common practice at every restaurant that has breakfast and lunch/dinner menus. Management did little to accomodate our request to order from the brunch menu despite not notifying their customers about no longer serving brunch.
Great place for a good breakfast but I highly recommend calling ahead to see how long they feel like serving their brunch...
