I went back and forth on visiting this place after reading the reviews. I finally (very hesitantly) decided to visit and see for myself. I’m not sure what all the bad reviews are about but to each their own I suppose. Perhaps the restaurant or the waitress had an off day or there has been a change in management or how they do things because our experience was great! We were seated immediately although they weren’t busy at all. We chose to sit at the sushi bar. Our waitress was kind and helpful. There was also a gentleman who was walking around asking how we were enjoying our experience. The sushi chef didn’t understand English well which is fine. When we go to a sushi restaurant we usually enjoy talking to the chef and we order Omakase (Chefs choice). Because of the language barrier we just ordered off the menu and from our waitress. All of our rolls were amazing. Presentation and taste was great. The sashimi we ordered was also fantastic! No complaints. Our sushi chef made us one special roll that was to die for. I wish I took a picture of it. The Christmas Tree. The best roll we had. We will most likely visit again one day when in the area and craving sushi.

We have been meaning to try this place for years now and finally made it. It was good. The service was excellent, and they made sure to take care of us. People kept coming in, so it seemed like a popular place. My wife had a chicken bowl and some egg drop soup. I had a teriyaki beef bento box with hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was probably the most sour and spicy soup I have ever had at any restaurant. My beef was very overcooked and dry. They had it sitting on a bunch of lettuce, and all the sauce was not getting to the beef because of that. Once I noticed that I moved the lettice and let the beef soak and then it wasn't as dry. My wife's chicken in her dish was also dry, so she kept dipping her chicken in my teriyaki sauce. They have Coke products to drink. We will give it one more shot and go back and just get stand-alone dishes that we know we like at other Asian restaurants and see if that is the difference or if it was just a bad day for the cook. I did have 4 pieces of a roll included in my bento box. I am not a huge fan of "sushi" but it was pretty good. So I can't really report on thier sushi but the did have a page or two of options.

Came with a group of workmates and was able to sit right down. Wasn't too busy for 11:50 AM. Some don't care for sushi so we are glad they had other options. We did, however, order about 10 different rolls. One workmate got the mongolian beef and one had the sweet and sour chicken. Both said their food was good. The chicken was a bit dry but not really different than other places I've had sweet and sour chicken. The rolls were all really good. I've been to places where the rolls all tasted the same. There was like one flavor that dominated every one. Not here! Every single roll had its own unique flavor. Some were spicy and had a good kick. I actually liked everyone we had. We just shared the rolls and everyone got a couple pieces of each one. We also got the Gyoza appetizer and they were well cooked and delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone!

SUSHI PRICES? Some are complaining that the sushi was too expensive, or they got a menu that didn't show how the sushi prices were half off. People . . . sushi is expensive everywhere you go. One customer even said they had eaten better sushi at lower prices. I think that may be stretching the truth. I have never seen better sushi prices, and I lived in Japan for several months and I eat at Japanese restaurants all the time.

DELICIOUS FOOD: They are unique in that they have a menu with food from several asian cultures which are normally sold separately. A food snob preferring only one culture at a time may be turned off by this. For example, sushi, sashimi or Bento tray meals are common in Japanese culture and can normally only be found at Japanese restaurants. Thai currys are normally only found in Thai restaraurants. Americanized Chinese food is usually found at a "Chinese" restaurant.

Red 8 Asian Bistro in Spanish Fork serves all of these and more.

Today I ordered the Red Thai Curry. It was excellent. Creamy and sweet, the sauce was amazing. On the side I had a choice of steamed rice or fried rice. The fried rice was great. Also, I had a choice of soup. They have Miso soup (Japanese), Egg Drop (Chinese?), and Hot and Sour (Chinese). I tried the Hot and Sour soup. I have tried it at many restaurants, and this was the best I have ever eaten. I am looking forward to having it again. They also tossed in two Gyoza, which were delicious.

One small drawback to the cultural exchange between dishes is that servers can become confused and may miss which culture is being served. I noticed this a few months ago when I ordered a Japanese Bento meal here, and my white steamed rice was loose, which is common outside of Japan. As I eat a lot of Japanese food, I missed the white sticky rice, which I know they have as it is necessary to make sushi, but they didn't remember to put a scoop of it on my bento tray. This is partly a texture issue, but also a technical issue, as a bento tray is too large to hold up and scoop rice into your mouth with chopsticks. I was forced to use a fork or spoon. (I consider using chopsticks an important part of the experience.) Other than that, the food was delicious. I suspect if I had asked, they would have been happy to bring me a bowl of sticky rice.

I highly recommend this restaurant. If you like everything perfect, choose a time when they aren't extremely busy (15 minute wait is not that long people), and remember, this is a restaurant in a small but growing town. They aren't going to match or beat the top restaurants in SLC, and we never expected them to. But feel free to drive an hour each way to eat at the other restaurant in SLC, and expect to wait an...

I Went tonight to pick up an online order with a buddy (he had his own order). Something we do usually twice a month.... They had lost both orders. Mine had been pre paid my buddies had not. After talking to them for several minutes they found that my printed order had been printed handed off to another then misplaced and my order had never been submitted to the kitchen. We Got it sorted out and an hour after originally ordering my food order was resubmitted to the kitchen. I was told it would be 25 minutes. After waiting for another 45 minutes I went and asked where our food was. I Was told the kitchen never stops and that our food was currently being made. Waited another 20 minutes and finally see what I thought was my food brought up. I approached to verify and talk to the cashier about my experience. I was talking to him reminding him it was now well over 2 hours after submitting my order. I told him how I had seen people come into the store, be seated, get their food, eat, get up, pay, and leave; all in the last hour since my lost order had been found and re submitted. After all that I was told I was being hostile and to calm down. Mind you I never once had raised my voice, cussed or directly blamed anyone. I was definitely not happy but was focused on sharing my perspective and experience. None of you know me but I am not a confrontational person. I was angry but was not up in his face. After being told I was hostile i left and will not be going back. Keep in mind my buddies story is very similar and he was there the whole time I was and also waited over two hours before receiving his food. His order had been processed differently but was also lost under different circumstances. We also had a third buddy order his food and get it on time with no issue, so the issues were not with the ordering system but with human error. No one apologized, their response. "Sir I feel you are being...

My little bother wanted to have a sushi feast for his 40th birthday celebration. He was very excited to share with the family a wonderful meal at Red 8 which he felt has wonderful sushi. We were the only customers there at this time of day. (between lunch and dinner) We ordered our food. The waitress was questioning everything I ordered. I was not sure what I had order when she left. Everyones food arrived. Except my sushi. The staff had started their lunch. I did not want to complain while they were eating their lunch. We all know that you will get poorly prepared sushi if they are angry while preparing a dish while they are suppose to be eating lunch. My Mother then became angry at me for not marching over to the staff and demanding my sushi. Someone finally came over to check on us and my mother told them that I was missing my sushi. I told them never mind. Angering my Mother even more. Then when the bill came the missing sushi was included on the bill. My father went to pay the bill and had them remove the missing sushi. As we were leaving the manager and the waitress were having a heated discussion about the sushi. She maintained that she had delivered the sushi. This occurred right in front of my brother as we were leaving. My family is still angry at me! over this encounter. Stay away from this terrible place. Lots of feelings were hurt by the staff. NO amount of apologizing or free food will ever make up for the way I felt when we left. How does the sushi taste? Like nothing. If I could leave zero stars I would. Terrible, terrible, terrible place. Did I mention Terrible place. I do not care how good the food is, it is not worth the aggravation the staff will inflict on you and...
