I came here at 7pm on a Friday for my mom’s birthday dinner. It was busy with about a 30-minute wait, which was fine. We ordered a veggie pizza, calamari, prime rib, and fish and chips. When the prime rib arrived, it clearly wasn’t prime rib, it was a ribeye cooked well done (picture 1 and 5), even though I had ordered prime rib medium. I pointed this out to the server (Layne), who told me “that is prime rib, not sure what to say but I’ll send my manager.” About 10 minutes later, the manager came by. I explained the situation, and he said, “it looks like a prime rib to me, just a little overcooked, but I’ll be happy to get you a different piece.” Neither the server nor the manager offered an apology for the mix-up. As someone who knows the difference, the first plate was obviously a ribeye: firmer, harder texture, no outer “prime rib” cap, and cooked through. Prime rib is softer and has that distinct roast look and feel. The replacement plate was more like actual prime rib (picture 2), but by then the experience was already disappointing. On top of that, the fish and chips were overly salty, and so were the vegetables served with the prime rib. Service also felt rushed and careless. For example, when we asked for a box for the pizza, instead of helping or offering to pack it (as good servers usually do), Layne just tossed the box onto the table and walked away. That kind of attitude really stood out as rude and unprofessional. To make matters worse, this was for my mom’s birthday. No one acknowledged it, no candle, no “happy birthday,” nothing when we asked to take a picture because it’s my mom birthday. The only thing that made her smile was that I gave her the free dessert that came with my prime rib. In the past, BJ’s would give a complimentary dessert with “Happy Birthday” written on the plate and a candle, which made the night feel special. Sadly, that tradition seems to be gone. Another issue, the new digital payment system is terrible. Being forced to scan a QR code to pay by phone is inconvenient and feels impersonal. What if an older guest doesn’t know how to scan a code or doesn’t want to pay on their phone? Whatever happened to the traditional method with an actual check and the option to pay at the cashier? Overall, the food was inconsistent, the service was rude and unprofessional, and the experience lacked the warmth and hospitality that used to make BJ’s stand out. The most surprising part was that both the server and manager didn’t seem to know (or admit) the difference between a ribeye and prime rib which is concerning for a restaurant serving both. Times have definitely changed here, and unfortunately, not for the better.

Dined in with the family 10/30/21 for dinner after our son's game. The wait was 15-20 minutes and seated in a timely manner, but the host gave us a table right in the middle of the dining room with our baby sitting right dab in the middle of the isle. We had a party of 4 and a half... We get menus and then asked to move to a table where our baby wouldn't block the walkway. It's not like we seated ourselves. LOL! We were moved into the backroom to a booth, but couldn't help but notice how unprofessional this place is. The table we were moved to was being used to roll silverware, the hostess just moved the napkins and silverware to another table and sat us there. I did notice an older woman seated at another table rolling silverware speaking to a younger man. After getting settled in, the same young man greeted our table as our server. We placed our order for our appetizer and wanted more time with the menu to see if I wanted to order something different this time around. 10 minutes later, I saw a young woman wander back there with our mozzarella sticks then goes to the corner when our server dropped them off after 5 minutes of cooling when we were the only table seated in that back section. No extra plates were brought out with our appetizers until after we dug in. We order dinner and received it, then we had to wait for silverware! The other sever in the room brought us silverware before our server checked on us. Honestly if we waited, guaranteed we would have waited awhile before he realized we were missing utensils. We have been here a million times with our kids because their food is consistent, but the service is GARBAGE! I couldn't give another star because the service was that bad this time. The sever's tip did reflect his negligence although in my opinion did not deserve the 10% we left. I am not sure that we will hurry back anytime soon.

Operation: Last Call — The Night Rocky Saved Our Lives at BJ’s We were deep cover that night. Sparks, Nevada. BJ’s Brewhouse. The mission: secure intel over margaritas, then exfiltrate unnoticed. Simple. Clean. Until it wasn’t. Jolyn and I took our positions—corner booth, backs to the wall. Just another couple unwinding after a long day. But we could feel it: the eyes. Someone watching. Then he appeared. The adversary. Bald. Leather jacket. Fake laugh that echoed across the room like a gunshot. He sat at the bar, but his gaze never left us. I nudged Jolyn. She’d seen him too. We couldn’t risk blowing our cover. That’s when Rocky made her move. She appeared at our table, calm as ever, a margarita in one hand and a pizookie in the other—like she wasn’t about to defuse a powder keg. She leaned in, voice low: “Don’t look, but he’s clocking you. I’ve got this.” Before we could respond, she was gone—gliding toward the bar like a shark through calm water. No beer spills. No scenes. Just charm and precision. She engaged him with easy conversation, drawing his attention with a smooth joke, a refill offer, and that magnetic energy only Rocky can bring. Within moments, his focus was off us and on her story about BJ’s newest brew. By the time he remembered we existed, we were gone. Out the door, into the night. Safe. BJ’s in Sparks isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a safehouse, and Rocky? Rocky’s the one who saves lives, and keeps missions intact. If you’re in enemy territory, trust me: ask for Rocky.

If you want to RUIN your night and WASTE a meal and your money this is the place to go! Super RUDE, IRRESPONSIBLE, DISORGANIZED, and DISRESPECTFUL staff. For starters, we joined the waitilist online, but when we arrived to the restaurant, they said that our name was not there. They added to thexwaitlist and said it will be around 40 min. Ok, that’s fine. After 40 minutes, they said that for whatever reason we were removed from the waitlist (wait, what?! why?!). They said that we will be at the top of the list because of this. Ok, that’s fine.

After finally being seated, the waitress came, and we said that we would like to use the special burger+bottomless fries offer. We asked if we could have the burgers on hold for now and have some fries first. They kindly accepted it. Some time later, they came and said that they are still waiting for the fries to come out of the frier. Ok, that’s fine. Now, 40ish minutes after taking the order, they came again and said that the fries are still not ready and asked if we would like to get the burgers going! I asked what happened to the fries then. They said that they had to change the oil in the fryer (wait, what?!). I said that you mentioned that the fries were in the fryer, how come they were in the fryer, but you are now changing oil? Also, I mentioned that this is unacceptable to wait 40-50 minutes for the fries just to hear that the fryer needs an oil change. On top of that, why one should start changing the fryer oil in the dinner rush hour. These things should be done before the rush hour. When you offer bottomless fries deal, you should have them ready for the customer. I also mentioned that this is not the first time this is happening. The last 4-5 times we visited here to use this offer the same thing happened. The waitress left to get their manager, and I thanked and appreciated this. The manager came, and I explained the same things. They just looked at me with a poker face, and rudly said that two of our fryers broke, and oil was licking from them (again, wait, what?!; how come they were broke, but we were informed that they are in the fryer?!). Couple minutes later, they brought our burgers with some fries. We also ordered some sauces, but no sauces (this is ok, things happen). Some time later, a new waiter (Nathan W) came and said that it is not ok to make you server cry! We can make you leave because of this! I was super confused about this, I was like what did I say that caused this? They said that you were rude and demanding!!! I was again super confused that where I was rude. I asked to explain it to me, and also I said that there 4 more person here that can say that I was not rude whatsoever! I asked to talk to the other waitress. Nathan said that she does not want to talk to you, they just said that you were rude and burst into tears! Nathan also said that he believes his waitress and doesn’t want to continue this discussion, end of story! Seriously, now, who is rude?! Not to mention that burgers were cold and all greasy. Like they reheated some old food for us!

They also brought more fries couple minutes later with a rude behavior, like, to shut us up!!! They never showed up again at our table until two times. The first time Nathan asked us rudely if everything is ok with a rude, just doing their job tone, and the second time he brought us the check.

What a shame really for such a big reputable restaurant. What a waste of night, time, and money! Completely ruined our thanksgiving joy and night. I just widh I could take the time back and never went there to not ruin my thansgivin and holiday joy! This is not the first time we experience such a poor service here. This has happened 4-5 times now! JUst stay AWAY...

Today I placed 2 separate orders for curbside pickup to be picked up at 3:45pm. On way to pick up I received a call from BJs confirming something on the order and was told it would be ready when I got there. I arrived exactly on time, called the number posted in the parking spot and was told my second order was being packaged and they’d be right out. It took another 10 minutes. I dropped off one of the orders to someone who lives 8 minutes away from the restaurant, talked to them for about 8 minutes then left. Before I did though I checked the other order and realized it was missing the mashed potatoes. I called the curbside number and let them know I was about 5 minutes away and was told they’d have it ready. Pulled into same spot called the curbside number again and let them know I was there. Another car pulled in next to me and got food promptly brought to their car. I also was informed from the people I had just brought food to that one of their sides was missing as well. After waiting 10 minutes, I went inside. The person I talked to did not seem aware of my issue and I let her know of the other missing item. When it was brought out the girl gave it to another employee, instead of giving it to me herself???. I took out the one sides and put it on the counter telling him that I didn’t want it cause the food was already delivered. He then tells me in a not very nice tone it’s not his fault cause he just got there. I let him know that he is a representative of the company and should have better customer service. He then said I was attacking him, I told him it wasn’t personal but as an employee it’s his job to deal with customers when they’re unhappy. He said he was taking it personal. He had a flippant attitude, so I asked for the manager. He only apologized after I said that’s all his employee would have had to do and we wouldn’t be standing there, but it’s because of his employees attitude. The manager asked me what he could do and if I had a rewards account and I told him this wasn’t about getting something for free, it’s about them being made aware of the poor quality control and customer service. I told him I wasn’t looking for anything else. If only one of the mishaps above happened I wouldn’t be writing this, but 2 separate orders had mistakes, I had to wait past pickup time and a second time when I shouldn’t have had to even go a second time, and then get an attitude from an employee. Food was still good, that’s why it’s not a 1 star. I only wish I had asked for the 2 tips back that I gave at time of order. Lesson learned, don’t tip until service/product is...
