Stopped by to try their AYCE. Sushi itself is clean tasting and presentable. Downfall would be the excessive amount of rice to fish ratio. In comparison to other AYCE sushi spots it definitely falls short in that rice to fish ratio portion. Service was great, checked back often, and refilled drinks as needed. Price point is a few dollars higher for lunch than other spots Easy to find, it's close to Off Broadway shoes, clear big sign, ample parking Ambience is dark even during the day, they almost black out the windows, it would've been nice to have natural lighting since it was really nice today. Food: mainly tried nigiri and one specialty roll - pacific roll. I really liked the pacific roll, nice balance of rice to fish and flavorful, although I could go without the green sauce, it was a very delicious roll, not too heavy. Fish quality is decent and shrimp is bigger than other AYCE places. Mussels were made very simple, similar to other sushi spots in the area, see photo. Mussels are bigger than average sushi spots too The crab mix for the upside down shrimp wasn't to my liking, the imitation crab tasted funny, so we didn't eat it. Overall, too much rice so I finished fast and didn't get to try anything else besides what is in the photo. Unfortunately I can't give a review for the other items. I don't think I would come back due to the rice ratio since there's a lot of competing AYCE spots who give a better balance.

If i could give Kissho a higher rating, I would. This is quite literally the best sushi place anywhere near the greater Reno/Carson area. They have fish so fresh that it melts on your tongue; rolls that are spiced with unique sauces, great portion sizes, and an attentive staff. Personally, my favorite roll was the tiger: 3 different fish inside, wrapped in a white paper, and with the most delicious and light citrus sauce. I had 3 of those on this vist. Their muscles are freshly made and not even the slightest bit rubbery. As you can see from my pictures, their presentation is quite well done too. As for the atmosphere, it was like walking from a chaotic day into a tranquil pond. From outside, you would never guess such a gem of a restaurant was within. I will be making this my new regular sushi place, (sorry sakana, your battleship just got sunk). If you the more traditional Japanese flavors, you will love this place. They even do hibachi dinners here! I've only been to one other place that even closely compares to Kissho, and that is in Venice Beach ca. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of the full sushi menu, but there are around 30 roll options. In a nutshell, try this place out; I promise, you won't be disappointed.

Excited to find another Japanese place that served other items other than sushi and rolls. Went on a Monday night and it was dead. Just the wife and myself. Ten minutes later another couple wandered in. Being that there were only four people in the whole place, the service was excellent. The interior was clean and very neat. I was surprised to see a regulation sushi bar with the fish on display. No chef that I could see but I had my back to it. I kept stealing glances. Other than that, typical mall restaurant. We ordered plate dinners rather than sushi and rolls. Although we did order a couple of old standard rolls for comparison purposes. I had hibachi chicken with steamed rice. The wife had chicken teppanyaki. The first thing we noticed was the slight vinegar flavoring in the standard rolls. Not as much as a true sushi rice but noticable. I found that to be enjoyable as every other Japanese sushi place we have visited in the Reno area uses plain rice. The plate dinners were good but the chicken on both plates was way over cooked. Very dry. Without the chicken, they were very much in line with the memory of the old Japanese family owned restaurants in Japan Town (San Jose, CA). Prices were reasonable. We will return.

I was excited to try out this location based on other reviews. Unfortunately my experience didn't hold up. First off, the sushi wasn't bad. Rice was a little dry, but the coconut shrimp roll was really good. The rest of the rolls we had were just alright. As we were being seated the waitress asked if we needed a highchair. We said yes and it didn't come till we asked again. Honest mistake, I thought... We asked about if we could just let our 1 year old have a few bites of our rolls since he doesn't eat much and the waitress basically said all he could have was an appetizer and that if he had more than that they would charge us for a 5 and under all you can eat. Honestly, I would be happy to pay if he could eat even half a long roll. Once our sushi arrived we felt like we were being constantly watched, but rarely waited on. The sushi did come out quick, but the waitress took out menu with her. She literally came to our table once to check on us. When she did she asked if we were done or wanted more. I asked for the menu because I wanted to try another roll or two. She literally disappeared. Never came back to our table while visiting the tables all around us. We eventually just got up, paid at the front and left. Of course they tried to charge us for our 1 year old as an AYCE. He ate a tempura sweet potato and a couple bites of rice. We were nothing but friendly and polite, so I'm not sure what was going on. Place wasn't super busy for a Saturday and they only had two girls working. We definitely won't be back. Hope they can improve for the sake of...
