Was in the area and saw this really cozy tap house tucked away from the prying of rushed passerbys. It being a Friday night, and feeling rather in need of some Christmas spirit, I went in to see what had eluded my eyes for the last several months.
A warm and happy smile awaited me upon entry, followed by the mellow, yet soothing feeling that I was home. While small, there was plenty of seats around the establishment, a decorative set of crafted mugs hang the walls to brighten the room, and a fair selection of ciders/ale to experience.
As for selection; Bardic Brewing and Cider seem to specialize in darker brews(stouts, reds, porter) and flavourful ciders(applepie, and gingerbread). There were about 10 taps(half ciders half darker ales). As personal preference, I enjoy the lighter ales( IPAs or lagers) but found myself underestimating both flavor and power of the stout I enjoyed that fine evening. I would love to see an IPA originate from this talented family, but I know they have plans to upscale their tap options in the coming year.
As for reccomendations... I would strongly encourage the creation of some sort of advertisement to attract the crowds... Big sign by the road, or perhaps stronger social media presence.
Overall, it was nice to see another unique addition added to the valley, and am excited to watch them grow! I will...
Read moreCannot speak highly enough about this place! The cider is incredible; easily the best I've had as far as I can remember. Tried both the Strawberry Hibiscus and the Vanilla Coconut and found them both light, refreshing, with the perfect amount of kick... Not too strong/weak. The Cayenne Watermelon was also delicious but I highly recommend you get a taster before getting a pint unless you have a stomach that can handle the spice. The pizza was also delicious, much higher quality than typical "pub food." The staff are amazingly warm and friendly and spent extra time explaining their wares and the history of the business. The overall vibe feels like if a bookstore met a cidery... Warm, inviting, no TVs. This is a place to have some drinks and food with friends over a game of cards or board game. (We actually made some friends while hanging out who taught us a brand new card game we fell in love with.) Prices are also very reasonable and there is...
Read moreSpecializing in darker, flavourful ales and stouts alongside creative, light-hearted ciders, BB&C offers a libation combination unparalleled in the INW. The atmosphere is welcoming and bright, inviting a whimsicality lethal to all manner of stuffy pretense. You'll come for the visual sparkle of Courtney's "Infinite Glitter" Cider, and then you'll stay after a supposedly-light pour of Mark's "Old Books" 11% ABV Barleywine. You might even bring your kids and give them some homemade rootbeer and a chocolate board. They won't be wanting for entertainment options, with a well-stocked cabinet of books and games nearby. And you won't be wanting for food with an excellent selection of hand-made pizzas and handpies ready for your perusal.
For my wife and I, Bardic has become a second home. Perhaps it can become yours, too. We'll see...
