New Leaf Café — Restaurant in Spokane

The Eggs Benedict was delicious; the hollandaise sauce is one of their specialties. I ordered sluced tomatoes instead of their new leaf potatoes, which is usually served with meal. The orange juice tasted fresh squeezed, but wasn't advertised as such. The view was amazing, just across the street from the sound. Up beat jazz music played softly in the background. The tables weren't crowded together, keeping the restaurant from developing the dreaded noise din. It appears there is outside, covered dining during the warmer seasons. The attached hotel looks like it strives to give every room a view, but I didn't stay there. Definitely a boutique feel...

Review for cafe only. Food was great, view was good, service was bad and I hardly ever pay much attention to service.

Ordered two meals: crab sandwich and duck waffles both tasty, but smaller portions. Not enough meat balance with the duck. It was mostly waffle. Men seem to like more protein lol. My crab sandwich was tasty, also a smaller portion and was strangely paired with arugula salad for breakfast. Passed on that part.

Also ordered a horseradish Bloody Mary and truffle fries which never came. Quick meal but not living up to the reviews. Bummer brunch. If I ever return to the island likely will...

This cafe is truly amazing, the baristas inside are changing their lives while learning to do a service for the community and gaining job experience. With this being a training cafe, yes sometimes you must be patient because they are constantly learning. But if you are willing to be a little gracious, it is worth the wait to support such a stellar non-profit. Plus the specials...
