Our family chose to visit here, because we'd had such a good experience and food in western WA. UNFORTUNATELY, the handicapped ramp is at the back of the restaurant, and there is NO SIGNAGE, to let those in WC know that they have to journey a distance, around the building. Once inside, there's no greeter at the back entrance. All of this, lack of consideration, feels a bit stigmatizing! ADA was definitely, not a part of the planning priority. When I ask, and spoke discretely w/ the manager about the concerns, she was only minimally responsive. Her shoulders squared and jaw hard, she told me repeatedly, that, "she was aware!". I was told that, they'd only been open a "couple months". For those in the ADA community, I'd like to know, why they haven't gone to the dollar store and made a sign, for their front door, so we know that our patronage is of value, too ! The manager approached me, after reading this review, and apologized for her countenance. It was obvious, that she not only felt genuinely sorry for our initial interaction, but also the reality of the ADA shortcomings. I, in turn, verbally recognized that her superiors had victimized her, not having addressed these issues or given.her any information re: what the their course of action/correction, would be. I'm hopeful that THEY, will see, that this needs to be addressed, so that the ADA community feels welcome at the restaurant. In the frenzy to advocate for those with ADA concerns, I inadvertently left my debit card. The text option, with the restaurant, was TIMELY and EXEMPLARY, in their responsiveness, confirming I'd left it. Other than my previous concerns, Customer service,...
Read moreWent there on Mother’s Day and I’m glad it wasn’t my first time because our experience was not great.
The wait: I expected a longer wait than normal due to the holiday but yikes. We put our name on the list online and the website estimated a 45 minute wait. We waited for another 30 minutes after the estimated time and then I got a text that my name had been removed from the list. The host said the system did it on accident but he did a good job getting us seated shortly after. There were a handful of empty tables. Other people waiting seemed frustrated and a couple groups just gave up and left.
The food: My son’s food (pancakes) didn’t come out to the table until 5-10 minutes after the other plates, so our food was cold by the time we finally started eating it. This was a big bummer for all of us and I felt like they should’ve comped the pancakes or at least apologized for making a kid wait. The flavor of the food was ok. I liked the chicken sausage patties and the potatoes are tasty if you add lots of salt and pepper. My spouse ordered an omelet and it was missing one of the toppings and he said it was just ok. It took a long time to get drink refills. Prices feel high considering the “okayness” of the food. I do appreciate the gluten free options but I wish they had gf bread.
The service: The host and servers seemed flustered but everyone was nice. I’ve eaten there two other times and the service has been great. Even the people who just bring out water or clean the tables are really friendly. Definitely a redeeming quality.
Overall, it was just meh. I’m sure I’ll be back but not...
Read moreThe main reason for the poor score is because I can’t, for the life of me, understand why any establishment whose namesake and primary offering is pancakes would not have pure, unadulterated Maple Syrup. To be clear, yes, the menu has “maple syrup”, but it is not PURE Maple Syrup. It is modified with High Fructose Corn Syrup, likely to stretch it out and save the company some money. Frankly, I think this is a shameful travesty. It almost made me walk away on principle. But, there are other options. So, I ordered an omelette instead. (I didn’t want to punish my server for the owner’s/management’s poor decision. I wish this trend of using HFCS in everything would die. It hurts the quality of your product, and it should hurt your reputation as well. (Not to mention the effects on your customers’ health. Really, look it up if you don’t believe me.)
The omelette was decent, even though the kitchen missed the detail about no broccoli. (They got it right the second time.) They were out of Cranberry juice for some reason, so I had to settle for Apple juice instead.
The star of the show, without a doubt, was my very attentive, patient and understanding server. I wish servers were paid a real wage in this country like they are in others. I tipped her well… I hope well enough. She was obviously embarrassed and understanding of my...
