Recently opened and 99% dedicated to drive-through, the single line has been very, very long and will be for awhile. That's the way it seems to always happen when any new (type of) food spot opens in Spokane. My observation, accurate or not, is that Spokanites are "hungry" (not a pun) for "new," maybe because the "old" disappoints(?). There are literally hundreds of reasons for this, but I'm writing about my experience here, not writing a book.
It is possible to walk inside to a small counter and order your food, but the "waiting area" is only about 5' x 7' and you have to take your bagged food outside.
I was just passing at 11:00 a.m. and noticed NO line. I drove over and saw that they had just opened, so that was my best opportunity. I walked inside, 1st customer of the day!
The staff were courteous.
I had eaten at Wienerschnitzels years ago and knew what they were then (Note: "Wienerschnitzel" has zero to do with "wieners" (hot dogs/sausages), but people like the name.)
The menu signs are clear and pretty, but you should know by now that nothing EVER looks like the photos. Just for expediency, I ordered the #1 Meal, a chili-dog, a chili-burger, fries, and soda ($10.89, including tax). There was an effort to up-sale me to medium or large on the fries and soda, but thankfully, I resisted.
I sat in my parked car to eat. Depending on what you get, that could be a BAD idea. I rarely drink sodas, but it was OK for what it was. The small fries were the thin kind which I prefer but were NOT crispy, fairly limp, VERY small portion, and zero seasoning/salt. They also were only slightly warm, as though prepared ahead of time before the crowd. My fault for not tasting before leaving.
The chili dog was not quite a cocktail wiener and not quite a hotdog. It was a very small "wiener" on a very small bun covered with very liquid "chili" (not really chili). The burger had decent "bite" but obviously had the same runny excuse for chili and no other condiments. I guess you have to ask.
I needed a lot of wet wipes following my lunch. Sure glad I got in and out first for my...
Read moreSolid food so far - im making my way through all the menu options - not any other fast food hot dog joints in the area i can recommend more than here, especially for the price - only note so far is the fries could be a crispier - they're kinda noodley right now (every time so far, but still tasty) crispy fries would get this place 5 stars for food :) atmosphere is meh cause its packed af but only 3 chairs to wait in
Edit: first time i had the chili dog/chili cheese burger combo + chili cheese fries. excellent choices, highly recommend. went again and tried the polish sandwich, the junkyard dog, - Junkyard was SUPER good, excellent amount of onion and mustard, but the bread for the polish sandwich was.. off. it has the consistency of white bread and probably should've been toasted because by the end of the meal it was kinda soggy. Honestly id recommend asking for the polish sandwich on a hotdog bun if it's not supposed to be toasted. The Junkyard dog was amazing tho, and i should also mention their jalapeno poppers and strawberry lemonade are both excellent as well - gonna keep coming back with my friend and updating the review til I've tried everything on the menu 😁
Edit2: had everything but the kraut dog now. all super good, and my favorite by far is the junkyard dog, but i think a consistent note for most of the menu is that fries and breads could probably do better if toasted until crispy since the chili is going to make it a bit soggy otherwise. Love this place tho, we need...
Read moreDude ...... I just came through I spent $20 didn't really get to eat my food. I ordered the new bratwurst with "BBQ sauce" instead of mustard because they overdue it. But no onions? Like it's bad enough y'all were out of pretzel buns and I get that stuff happens, so I didn't get my regular order because I don't really care for the hotdogs, or the plain buns so I ALWAYS upgrade but they were out so I settled for the bratwurst dog cause it had onions "so the bun might be tolerable" But no I got a cheap small brat on a BBQ saturated hotdog bun "which again I don't really like but was going to choke down" but at bare minimum I could have probably tolerated it with relish but I didn't know the grilled Onions were gonna be withheld. I also asked for extra salt he smiled at me said it was in the bag as well as extra bbw sauce "spoiler there was no salt 'which for me to tolerate the Fry's I desperately need' so those I also didn't really eat. Ordered a sprite pretty sure the flavoring is low or out. Idk if I was the one driving "even though I paid for it" I couldn't go back around and know that I STILL have an hour commute home and work in a few hours. I am super hungry and disappointed I'm glad I...
