I feel honored to be able to post the very first review of Honey Berry Cafe, which I need to state right off the bat, I wish they had found a better name for the previously titled, A.M. KITCHEN.
My girlfriend and I have been regulars at A.M. KITCHEN for nearly two years. Though we have done lunch here quite a few times, it is actually Sunday breakfast that has become our favorite time to visit. We enjoy the very substantial Breakfast Bowls with their sides of toast which are still offered at a reasonable price.
Of course, we look forward to seeing Kelly on our Sunday visits, who starts us off with coffee, asks how we are doing, and constantly offers refills while checking up to be certain we are enjoying our meal. The entire staff, as a matter fact, have been incredibly friendly and welcoming every time we visit.
A.M. KITCHEN has been a very popular staple of Spring Lake. From what we have seen, the place has done very well which is a reflection on the quality of the food they serve. We are mostly Winter visitors as in the Summertime, the place is incredibly busy with wait times --- even during early morning breakfast hours. We are very happy that they continue to enjoy this kind of success as they deserve it.
It is our understanding that the owner is changing the menu somewhat, which is a bit of a concern, as I think the success of A.M. KITCHEN was its very diverse and excellent menu selections. You take away favorites and people aren't happy. However, from what we have been told, the new ownership is bringing in some new favorites of theirs while attempting to keep many familiar items on the menu. This is potentially good news and I hope the owner(s) realize they shouldn't make too many radical changes to a successful menu that loyal customers return for.
We wish the ownership lots of success. This is one of the best eateries in the area with huge portions of quality food at reasonable prices along with a terrific staff. If they can keep that formula intact, business is going to continue to thrive.
If you are visiting Spring Lake, this is a place you must stop in to visit. If you already live in the area, you already realize what a great reputation this...
Read morewe finally have a new great place to eat, done right from the delightful staff (our waitress today was Jill) she was smiling, got the order perfect, attentive and made wonderful recommendations. It was out first time here, we live in Belmar and are always looking to try a new local place. Our choices today were the western omelette with a side of corned beef hash. They were both delicious. Mike says the best hash he has ever had anywhere! It was definitely homemade, fresh, not greasy at all and a very generous portion. His wife had poached eggs and hash browns and shared the corned beef hash it was so big Perfectly cooked eggs and the side of potatoes were amazing. My hunny really wanted a BLT and he was quite happy. Side of fries, pickle, cole slaw came with and all good. Love fresh cole slaw when it is not swimming in mayo and this one was perfect. I had the summer frittata with a side of watermelon salad! OMG was mine to die for. The frittata was a perfect size with a dollop of sour cream and sliced avocado on top. The watermelon salad was fresh baby arugula, blueberries, sliced almonds, feta cheese, a few sliced cucumbers and this dressing that I will be dreaming about. Jill asked the chef, they said homemade honey and lime dressing. I believe there is a touch of mustard too but all I can say is bottle the stuff, YUMMY! This was truly an awesome breakfast, we will be back especially before the summer crowds hit us and then you will never be able to get in. Very clean establishment, large menu, lots of choices for everyone, bright sunny table, we loved the whole experience. Glad to find a wonderful new place to eat. We will...
Read moreVisited twice when it was AM Kitchen. First time as Honey Berry. Not sure if ownership changed hands or if the name just changed. As AM Kitchen it was fine. Husband and I asked if we could see the menu before taking our name and hostess was annoyed. Immediately after looking over the menu we decided to stay. We were the first in line waiting for her to take our name. Another two parties came up behind us. She blew right past me and asked for the person behind me for her name. Never even asked if we decided to stay. She then proceeded to ask the second party behind us for their name. When I interrupted and asked if she would take our name she said after she got the other person's name and gave me a dirty look. We immediately left. She did not like that we asked to see the menu first yet on the entrance door is a QR code to see the menu which is what we were going to do. Very unprofessional. With an attitude and lack of hospitality like that I do not believe we will ever go back. Good restaurants want their patrons to be happy not treat them like an...
