We went in as a party of four adults; the ambulatory, and me in my manual wheelchair. We had an advanced reservation and were quickly seated in the main area (they have private rooms as well but those were booked up). The staff were kind and friendly, and carefully explained the whole menu to us. We opted for the premium boat of meat (made up of their "Wagyushu" beef aka American cattle raised using Wagyu methods), the assorted vegetables, miso soup, some drinks, and a $30 plate with four pieces of actual A5 Japanese Wagyu beef tenderloin to finish things off.
All the food was amazing. Best miso I've ever had. The vegetables grilled up nicely, and the meat boat was better and better with each cut. Make sure you remember to use the little fat block to grease your grill before adding meat so it doesn't stick! They also provided two sauces: one was tangy with a soy sauce base, and the other was a garlic sauce. Our strategy was to use the shears to cut each piece of meat (after grilling) into at least three bites so we could taste the meat as-is, dipped once in the tangy sauce, and once in the garlic. Don't be afraid to dip in both sauces on the same bite; they combine deliciously.
Finally we were ready for our A5, and our waiter retrieved it from where it had been chilling to keep fresh while we ate the rest of our meal. They brought out a certificate with information about the cow, and presented the meat here with a little pile of salt and dehydrated garlic slices. My partner carefully grilled them for us and oh. my. goodness. Eating this was euphoric, "a religious experience" as my friend put it. One little tap in the salt after cooking elevated it even further. It was so incredible that we immediately dropped another $30 to get another four pieces. It was then that we learned you could get a little wasabi, put that on top of the cooked meat, tap once in the salt, then enjoy the dance of flavor in your mouth. I will be dreaming about that steak for years to come.
Come prepared to spend, because all the amazing food and drink does add up but it is...
