Enough is enough. I am never EVER coming back to this restaurant again. Every single time I come here they either mess up my steak or have terrible service. Either way, I end up going hungry for an hour and eating after everyone else or the service is so bad we end up staying there for over 2 hours. That is unacceptable. Last night was the last straw for me, though. My grandmother, my mom, and I came into Saltgrass at 8:15 to celebrate the end of my final exams. We were seated promptly by a very kind and energetic hostess. However, our waitress was less than prompt- oh wait, I mean our first waitress. The first waitress took 15 minutes before she decided to introduce herself and took another 10 minutes to even bring us drinks. Then, we suddenly got a new waitress several minutes later who took our order. However, even though she was nice, she had a bad habit of forgetting to even bring us bread while we waited for food. We had to ask her 4 times for bread before some other random waitress gave us some. Many, many minutes later I get my appetizer of two crab cakes... which were extremely burned. I think they tried to cover up the fact that they were burned because they put the sauce on top of the crab cakes (which made them soggy). On top of all this, the crab was obviously not fresh. Then came the main meal... at 9:20. This was over an hour since we arrived at this half-empty restaurant. I ordered the gulf coast steak and shrimp. My grilled shrimp were undercooked and one of them was almost raw. My medium steak was medium rare and flavorless. My mother ordered the steak medallions, which were salty and cooked medium instead of medium well. At least they didnāt mess up my granmotherās order. Then, to complete the ambiance, I spot a nice, 3-inch cockroach on the wall across from me. Very appetizing. We search for a manager but they were ābusy.ā When the manager was no longer ābusy,ā we finally got to talk to him. He was very apologetic and sent our food back to the kitchen. However, they just recooked our food, which exacerbated the flavor problems the food had when it first came out. My flavorless steak was now over cooked and my momās salty steak was even saltier. We decided to eat the food anyway because it was 9:45 and we were hungry. The manager said he would take off half of our bill because of what happened, but the evening was already ruined by that point. We just wanted to go home. Then that mysterious third waitress comes by with the dessert menu, says something inaudible, and leaves. This was confusing, but we decided to get the cheesecake because we figured they couldnāt mess that up. And so we left, disappointed and frustrated with our experience and the loss of time we could never get back. Our ordeal lasted a grand total of 2 hours and 15 minutes. And so, in reflection of all that this horrid restaurant has put me through every time I visit, I say without a hint of regret: I am never coming back to this dreadful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Saltgrass for Christmas Eve with my girlfriend. We arrived around 8pm and I was surprised that there was only I family waiting to be seated and there were many open tables. I was not greeted when I walked in and in fact I had to initiate the conversation with the 3 hostesses. I was completely surprised when the hostess said it would be a 25 minute wait since the restaurant was not crowded. The family that was waiting was seated and another family walked in after I had arrived. Im sitting in the lobby doing my best to have a conversation with my girlfriend while in my peripheral vision I see all these open tables. 10 minutes passes and the family that arrived after us was seated before we were seated so I couldn't bite my tongue. I went up to the hostess and asked her why and she said that they are a parry of 4 and that a 6 top table was available and she thought I wouldn't want to sit at a 6 top. I said well at least ask me and give me the right of refusal. I looked at the dining room and I saw 5-10 open 4 top tables available so her response lacked the facts. I asked for a manager and within a minute Lena arrived. She apologized and made the excuse that a large party had just left and they were trying to clean up. Well no large party left while I was waiting so it had to have been 20 minutes since they left. That time seems a little excessive to clean a few tables. She apologized again and amazingly we were seated immediately after I showed obvious irritation with my lack of a reasonable explanation. I asked for the general managers card and she quickly gave it to me since the cards are right behind the hostess podium. Once seated the waitress greeted us fairly quickly. Brought out the bread quickly. Refilled our drinks before they became empty. The manager Lena came to our table and apologized again. I ordered a 12 oz cut of prime rib cooked medium and it was delicious although quite fatty. The waitress recommended a side of asparagus and they were equally delicious with the proper amount of seasoning. I was disappointed that I was not told there would be a 2.79 up charge for asparagus since I assumed it was included with the 24.99 steak price. We finished eating and I gave the waitress my credit card before I read the bill and noticed a mistake with the bill when she returned. The waitress apologized and quickly had the manager fix the mistake. I wanted to leave less of a tip however I decided against it since it the issues I had were really not the waitresses fault. The waitress seemed surprise when I told her merry Christmas and as we were about to leave the hostess politely told us to have a good evening. I was going to give 2 stars however the steak was delicious so I upgraded to 3. My initial impression was not great and I tried hard to not let it overwhelm my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: don't let the "owners" reply make you think they care. When I emailed them as they requested....they didn't do anything. Please, please stay away from this poorly run dump and it's incompetent managers and staff.
I come here often and I usually enjoy coming. Today I came in around 3 pm and sat at the bar for dinner. There was someone behind the bar that was stocking. He never acknowledged me. Almost 10 minutes went by and I still hadn't been greeted. There was one other gentleman sitting at the bar that was also being ignored. Two more people came at sat at the bar and none of us were acknowledged. I got up and walked out after being ignored for over 10 minutes. I called to speak to a manager. I think his name was Adrian. He did not care not even a little bit. He didn't even pretend to care. His response was "oh ok." Really????? Ok. No wonder why your staff is the way they are. If management doesn't care why would the employees. Makes sense. The good thing about being ignored is that there are two restaurants nextdoor that you can go to and actually get service. I know...wild concept to expect to be greeted and acknowledged in a restaurant. I'm sad that I will never go to Saltgrass again. I used to coordinate large gatherings for happy hour there. I will gladly take my business somewhere else. Particularly to a restaurant that doesn't ignore you and doesn't have terrible managers. Please, please stay away from this place. They don't deserve your business. There are too many other good, well run restaurants in the area with decent managers and...
