Jersey Mike's Subs — Restaurant in Springettsbury Township

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my concern and disappointment following a visit to your Jersey Mike’s location on East Market Street in York, PA, on Sunday, May 25, 4:47pm or so

While I was waiting in line, I observed a woman and her daughter ahead of me. It became apparent that the young girl had autism. What troubled me deeply was the behavior of a few employees behind the counter. I noticed them smirking, laughing, and retreating to the back of the store seemingly to hide their reactions. Whether intentional or not, this behavior came across as insensitive and inappropriate, especially given the circumstances.

I have been a loyal customer of Jersey Mike’s for some time, and this experience was not only disappointing but also disheartening. Your team must understand that not everyone they encounter will be neurotypical, and it is critical they treat all patrons with respect and dignity, regardless of ability.

I strongly encourage you to address this with your staff and reinforce the importance of empathy, professionalism, and inclusion. Instances like this can have a lasting impact on customers and the community’s perception of your brand.

I decided to try the new Jersey Mike's in East York yesterday. I did the phone app order which was nice and easy. I walked in a couple of minutes early not knowing what to expect if my order was ready or not. It was already sitting in the bin for pickup. I checked my order and it was all correct. I left with my order to eat it outside in my work truck. I opened up my sub to enjoy and the bread was all soggy from all the oil and vinegar that was dumped on it. It was a horrible sub! My fingers sunk into the moist bread roll right into the meat and cheese. The sub was falling apart on me because of how much oil and vinegar was dumped on it. The food was just about on par with Jersey Mikes usual. Seemed like a little less on my sub, but it was good. The staff were very immature, yelling at each other while customers were in, talking about throwing gang signs, joking about wanting to get fired. The one who seemed to be in charge also stopped mid sandwich making to ask other employees if anything was done with their “afternoon checklist”. Just not at all impressed, haven’t had a good in-store experience here yet.

Edit: I was reached out to by Jersey Mikes and they did seem to care that their staff was unprofessional. Hopeful my next visit...
