So my wife and I visited Yianni's Gyros on the West side of York a few days ago, and we were very impressed. Her Athena salad was huge and tasty, and my traditional gyro was also large and came with a mountain of home cut French fries. Everything was so good that today while out with my sons I suggested we stop by the East York location. While my one son got the traditional gyro (which he said was delicious), my other son complained after the first bite of his Greek hamburger that it was the worst hamburger he had ever eaten. Thinking he didn't like the feta cheese on it, I took a bite. It was, indeed, the worst burger I have also ever eaten. It tasted metallic and burnt on the outside like it was cooked on a grill that was WAY too hot. Neither one of us could finish it and ended up throwing it away, which is a shame considering the price. In conclusion, this place knows how to prepare Greek food, but I would stay away from...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here for the first time yesterday. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was nice and clean. We ordered two gyro combos with Greek fries, a Greek burger and dessert. The gyros were HUGE and the fries were large portions. I eat like a 5yr old so when the food came to us my husband said omg there’s no way you’re going to finish it. He was right! Three bites of the gyro and a handful of fries and I was full. But we got a Greek burger to share so I had to try it. To be honest, it was the worst burger we have ever ate. The meat just tasted burnt. There was no seasoning whatsoever. Just a dry, tasteless burnt burger. I took two bites just to make sure my tastebuds weren’t messing with me. Nope, it was indeed disgusting. I gagged trying to swallow the burger. The desserts looked delicious and tasted so good. The Greek burger was the only thing we...
Read moreFood is doable. It’s frozen premade written all over it. The Pastitsio is familiar to Kronos frozen entrees also the Mousaka. The falafel is horrible pre made frozen individually little tasteless morsels. Greek salad is fresh, for the dressing I got a portion cup of flavorless oil. Definitely can’t see this place lasting to long. Greek food in my mind is a Yia Yia making her recipe with a distinct Flo or of individuality a frozen tray will never get there. For the deserts it’s a Greek Yia Yia bakery so it’s passable but definitely mass produced. I really wanted a good Greek restaurant but this is not it....
