The first time I went to Kokee Kitchen, it became an instant favorite! I was growing hungry, standing in the Springfield Town Center Mall food court, and not in the mood for the typical fast food options. As I stopped to look around, I saw a small line forming of people who were not scanning for options; they were decided. I asked one waiting customer about the type of cuisine, and she described it to me as Korean fusion. I would say that is accurate.
At first, I was slightly intimidated by the menu, but the staff was extremely patient, and knowledgeable of the menu and options. They offered samples and suggestions. Having multiple workers on the food line, one worker was able to assist me in my newbie state, while regulars were able to get there orders without being delayed.
I tried the Kokee box combo with beef bulgogi and spicy pork. The box comes standard with portions of salad, rice, and clear (rice?) noodles, as well as your choice of protein, and 3 crispy potstickers. I was offered the option of choosing two meats as my protein, and I’m glad I did. The overall portion size of the combo is ample. I also added a light dressing of the sriracha and wasabi sauces to my combo.
Flavor Focus:
The food was delicious! I have eaten authentic Korean food in South Korea and at a friend’s home in the U. S. The flavors of KK’s are on point, and the fusion flair is fabulous! The meat is well-seasoned, tender, and consistent throughout. I found the spice level of the spicy pork to be moderately low - 5 out of 10 - with no additional sauce or flavoring.
The combo also comes with a drink. You can purchase standard soft drinks and bottled water, or get a “homemade” flavored lemonade/fruit drink. I have always opted for Kokee’s drinks, which come in a travel-friendly sealed cup. I have tried the rose lemonade and mango lemon drink. Both were good. The mango lemon drink was slightly sweeter than the rose lemonade. I find the rose lemonade compliments my meals more.
Overall, I think the combo is a great value for the quality and quantity of food and drink.
Since my first visit, I have brought my family (husband and children) to KK, and all of us are hooked! My children (elementary age) have had Kokee kid boxes, and left full and happy. We have tried different combinations of meats and sauces, and no one has been disappointed. We have gone during lunch and dinner time, and had different staff; they were always pleasant and helpful. Additionally, a bonus for me, at any restaurant, is menu accommodations. My son prefers his kid box without the noodles (only rice), and the staff is accommodating. The only suggestion I have is that Kokee offer a kid combo that comes with a drink. Outside of that, we are satisfied regulars of Kokee Kitchen.
Things to keep in mind:
The sauces really change the flavor profile of the food. So mix and match if you’re adventurous, or be forgiving if your first tasting isn’t to your liking.
In my opinion, this food is not for those who prefer subtle or more bland flavors. However...
There are other food options, such as tacos - which seem extremely popular - cheese dogs, and a whole swirled potato. I haven’t tried them yet, so I can’t...
Read moreI ordered the spicy Korean ramen because the picture looked good, but while I was waiting for my food I saw them opening a pack of Shin Ramyun in the back. I’m like…you gotta be kidding me. It was about $12 and I can buy a pack of 5 for $6. And they didn’t even dress it up they literally just made it from the pack. I make it better at home.
Anyway, the Korean street dog (cheese) was pretty good. It was crispy and sweet with good quality mozzarella
The taro Mochi donut was great , probably my favorite thing that I got.
Ultimately I would only go back for the donuts, but even that’s not enough for me to actually go back. If you’re looking for Korean street food you can...

Besides, there was a French fries order that we made with other orders and we were waiting thinking it was not ready, when we checked for it she said that it was given to us with the other order. The audacity of her saying that we are trying to cheat. What a disgrace!! We almost lost our 2 year baby arguing over this with the so called ‘Manager’. The two ladies have no sense of humor or whatsoever at all and they were even laughing when we were terrified and rushed to...
