Supreme Kringle Bakery — Restaurant in Springfield

This is an outstanding bakery if you want the real deal and not some mix. I've gone there three times and each time it's been fantastic. I wish there was more variety, but outside of that, this is a real bakery done right. There is a difference in the taste when a bakery makes things without taking shortcuts.

Springfield in general has very low food standards. Other bakeries get high marks locally and they don't come even close to the quality of Supreme Kringle. Whoever runs the place, I just want you to know that I appreciate the care in what you make. I can taste it. I would prefer if you didn't put sprinkles on your frosted donuts, but that's just me. It detracts from the flavor of your dough.

This is a place that sells out and I can see why. People who know good bakery know where to go. For those of you who are young, this is the type of bakery we grew up with where they were up super early in the morning to make this stuff fresh. We were 5 min away and called to inquire about which Kringle flavors they had left 20 min before they closed. I was told they couldn’t hold the 2 flavors we wanted til we got there. That’s fine. Arrive 5 min later, I buy $42 worth of Kringles, cinnamon bread and pastries and they were all bagged together. They were going to different households so I asked for a separate bag for half the pastries. I was told by Allie that an extra bag is a quarter and since my card was already charged the $42, did I have a quarter on me. I told her no and she said she was sorry but bags are too expensive now. She was completely hateful the whole time helping me, like I was an imposition. I politely asked her name before I left and the family watching from the car said she was shaking her head and giving me a death stare. The reviews and location caught my eye, while I was hunting for a birthday cake at the last minute. To my pleasure and surprise, they had a lemon cake which was ready to be boxed and go!

Holy… cow…. Hands down, this was the BEST lemon cake I have ever found at a bakery, period. I’ve tried cakes from the top rated shops across the entire country, and this single cake beats them all.

The icing is deliciously lemon flavored, with bits of zest in it, and delicately balanced with flavor and sweet. The cake itself was beautifully moist and decadent, and combined wonderfully with the flavored icing. It’s simple, easy, and phenomenal.
