Ginger's Cafe is a fun little find! It is a quaint cafe with yummy food offerings . I enjoyed the variety on the menu and I was pleased to see offerings for vegan, raw vegan, and omnivores. All offering looked good and I am excited to have place that I can bring my husband and feel like we both have choices to pick from.
I ordered the cauliflower soup and the veggie wrap. The soup was really delicious and I was pleased with the amount of flavor it had. I was nervous about the veggie wrap. It's hard to have a wrap and all veg and have it taste good, but their house ranch showcased all of the veg. The sprouts were my favorite and everything tastes so fresh and delicious. I got the Mellow Yellow smoothie for dessert and it was pretty good. It was extremely sweet for my taste, but I did enjoy having a smoothie with mint. I think next time I'd get one with greens to balance out the sweet. I was really hoping to try the Thai wraps, but they were sold out. There are several offerings that looked really good, so I plan to try them. The falafel salad looked great and the house ranch is fabulous. I plan to buy a bottle next time I visit.
I will visit again and update the review as needed. I docked one star because we came very early in lunch service and they were already sold out of a few items which people were asking about, so I'm assuming it was a popular choice. There is also a "feel" that I expect for small, local cafes. Warm people, employees that treat you like family and remember your favorites when you become a repeat customer. A few of the staff members could have been a little more friendly and welcoming: Saying hello and making eye contact while welcoming them in, when someone is staring at the menu for awhile ask if they have been there before or if they need a recommendation, anticipating needs (bringing napkins with food instead of waiting to be asked), and saying thank you when patrons leave. Just a few changes and mindfulness will help customers feel welcomed and appreciated. The "feel" felt distant and like no one would have noticed if I would have stayed or left. I definitely wouldn't go back because of the warm environment experience, but I will give it another try because the food was good. Everyone has off days and I will assume it was a bad day for employees because no one I interacted with seemed happy to be there or enjoy what they were doing. The "feel" and warm customer service is what brings me back to local places.
Overall I give it four stars and I hope to change it to 5 when I have more experience there. I've heard so many good things about this cafe, so hopefully it was just an "off" day. I'd love to see more raw choices, but I can't complain with the variety. Give this place a try and see what you think.
Updated: Bumped to 5 stars. I frequent this place often. I love that the dressing is available by the bottle. The service could be a little more friendly, but the food offerings are really good. Ingredients are fresh. The do occasionally run out of stuff early, but it's seem...
Read moreIn the many times I’ve eaten at Ginger’s Cafe the food has been fantastic, although I don’t plan on returning. Not unless they can hire people who at least treat their customers with the most minimal level of respect. The past 5 visits to Ginger’s have gone from bad to just terrible, and each time the same girl has been the cause.
While all the other customers are treated politely, every time I show up it immediately feels like she is irritated by my presence. I’ve always asked how her day was, tipped her kindly, and showed the same respect I would want from a customer. In return I received a careless attitude, slow service, and just barely enough effort to show she even worked there.
Today will be my last day trying to eat at Ginger’s. I ordered my food, tipped at the register, and as before got the same deathlike expression from her. I sat in the cafes outside seating (I was not the only one out there) and waited. 25 minutes passed by and still no food. Multiple times while waiting I made eye contact with her in hopes she would bring my food. Seeing that that didn’t work I went in and asked if my food was coming. Sounding bothered she replied “Oh, well I thought you left. We’ll bring it out.” First of all, why would I leave and not get my money back first? 10 more minutes passed by and still nothing. At this point I just wanted a refund. When asking for the refund, all I got from her was “Okay”. No questions, no apology, nothing. Almost as if she was expecting me to come back. After receiving my money back I expressed how I felt in a very calm and polite manner, and still the only response I got was a blank stare with a couple of mumbles words saying “Huh, I usually don’t forget that.” (Even after making eye contact multiple times and asking twice for my food). Never once received a simple apology. So after an hour of wasted time, I left still hungry and in a much worse mood than when I arrived. Very few times has a restaurant made my day noticably worse, and for this experience I will not...
Read moreFor as much as I spent supporting local artist you think you could get a cup of ice water.
Long story.
Attending with a Caucasian female on 6/27 and I asked for a cup of ice with a straw. The gentlemen brought it out to me no problem.
I attend on 6/28 with my black family. 1 male and 3 kids. Ordered the same thing because the food is AWESOME (the service is 0 stars and the food is 4) I proceed to get my meal and just like the day before I asked for a cup of ice, even offered to pay for it,they said verbatim "sorry we don't have ice" I said "excuse me? I was just here yesterday and young man brought me out a cup of ice and a straw" her response (cold btw) "We aren't supposed to do that" that's when I offered to purchase the ice.
fast forward until the end of the meal and this lady (I find out is the owner) slams down a cup of ice and said "here's your ice. I went next door to get it" and walked off. She looked super bsdass and before I wanted to tell her about my doctorate but wow what a turn off.
Anyway, after THAT interaction I STILL went to the store upstairs that no one knows about because they don't really do a lot of social media marketing. I vote locally with My money and I told the cashier what had happened and SHE SAVES THE DAY BECAUSE of her awesome customer service skills.
The cashier explained that they don't have an ice machine, they only buy bags of ice and when it's gone they have to go get another one. How come the cashier downstairs was so rude? why did the owner slam my cup of ice and walk away with no explanation 😐 because my brown family was there?
Anyway. Never going back. they had great stuff but I'll find someone else locally to buy from, maybe even donate an ice...
