food was great but the reason i will go back and tell all my friends about this restaurant is because of their staff - i had Jess as a server and can't recommend her enough. she is funny, friendly, and she even sees through the false veil that the world elites want to pull over our eyes. the world needs to wake up. i shared my knowledge with Jess when i ate here. ask her to reveal the truth to you. just know you can never go back. don't ignore the fact that circles and sphereoids were already solved by mathematicians in phonecia

Read moreWe checked out Steele And Hops for dinner tonight and were overall quite impressed and plan to return in the future, though at a quieter time of day.
My husband and I both ordered one of the house made sodas and liked them. While we do drink alcohol, it's nice to have other well considered non-alcoholic options on the menu. I liked that neither drink we got was too sweet - the ginger actually had a nice bite to it, and the strawberry was fruity and not syrupy. They were perfect compliments to the more strong flavors in our meal.
I ordered the beef tacos off the Small Plates portion of the menu, and was impressed at how full the tacos were! My only quibble was that there was only one thin tortilla per taco and they all ripped due to the amount of filling. Ask for some extra shells, and you'll be good. Besides that small issue, I found the beef tender with a nice subtle heat. Maybe a tad more seasoning would be nice, but I liked it and would order it again in the future.
My husband ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich and was also very happy with his food. The waffle fries were delicious, and the sandwich reminded us both of the State Fair - it was crispy, sweet, savory, and really tasty. I had more than a few bites of it, just to make sure it was as good on the third bite as the first. ;)
We of course had to try the mini donuts for dessert, and were VERY happy we did so. They were perfect, and I would go back just for those.
While I'd love to give Steele And Hops five stars, the biggest complaint we had was how LOUD it was in there even with the restaurant not full tonight. Some simple noise mitigation panels in a few spots would help greatly with that and make us more likely to go back for dinner and to bring friends with us. Right now, it's not very conducive to having an easy conversation.
The patio looked to be a good size but doesn't seem ready for diners yet with just a handful of scattered chairs and one solitary table that we saw. On a cooler evening, I'd definitely like to have the option to sit out there.
Overall, it's a solid concept with good food, and I'm glad we have another sit down dining option...
Read moreWe checked Steele & Hops out for dinner last night. It was overall a good experience. The restaurant is a great addition to the area - we don't have a lot of nicer sit-down restaurants in the neighborhood so it's a welcome change of pace. It looks like the patio isn't finished yet, otherwise we would have loved to sit outside. It looks like it'll be a cool area when it opens though. The cocktails were fabulous!! My friend ordered the spicy strawberry margarita which she said was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. I ordered the hibiscus mojito - very refreshing and not overly sweet - and the berry lemonade wine slushy - a perfect summer drink! The food was good, not great. I ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich. I really liked it, but I think it needs to just be a chicken and waffles dish, not made into a sandwich. It was way too messy and fell apart as soon as I picked it up. It was very flavorful however so no complaints about the taste. My husband ordered the brisket grilled cheese and my friend ordered the chef's special which I think was a pulled pork sandwich? They both enjoyed their sandwiches. We all thought the fries were a little too overcooked; even my husband who typically likes his fries on the crispy side thought it was a little much. The seasoned sour cream is awesome!! Our server was very friendly and made some good recommendations when we couldn't decide what we wanted and she clearly knew the menu well. The service in general was a little slow and it felt like we waited longer than usual for everything, but it was busy and I understand that they may still be working out the kinks being a newer restaurant. All in all, we will definitely return. We're looking forward to trying out more of the daily...
