Over the weekend, we not only celebrated our fathers, but it is also my hubbys bday and our 7yr wedding anniversary so it had to be special! We've been wanting to try Mortons, so hubby made reservations 2weeks in advance for June 16th & he received a courtesy call on the 14th to confirm. Located inside the Lumiere, if you don't know your way around(or dont read the signs), you may have a lil walk & idk where the sewage smell is coming from but im glad it didn’t ruin our experience frfr. Now once we found Morton's, the first thing we noticed were all the wine bottles & the decor was typical fine dining fashion with low lighting that creates a very intimate setting. Hubby led us to the host desk and let them know we had reservations, then we were walked over to a booth of our choosing. Look, we knew our experience was about to be off the hook after our server said the water server will be coming by next, then our actual waitress Erica(fuqn AMAZING, professional & still be herself👌🏽💪🏽)! The way she worked the menu by explaining it and giving me recommendations cuz i just knew she would get us right. Man, its presentation for us and the fact they went above and beyond for our anniversary by providing us with personalized menus🥰(i seriously almost cried)🥲& it was filled with all expensive items lolbvs...there's so much to choos from and we almost shared a 36oz, but that woulda been too much so I got the filet mignon(black truffle butter) & lobster tail w/the truffle cream corn while the hubby ordered the porkchops w/creamy spinach(garlic butter)-yall, when i say no salt need on nuthin and EVERYTHING was delicious af...i even ate a piece of his porkchop(i swear it didn’t taste like pork and the best I'd ever had frfr)-oh, hubby just had to have a lemon drop while i had a "sidecar" topped with grand marnier that Erica recommended and it was on point!! Look, when you go just be prepared to spened a minimum of $100/pp, but its well worth the price cuz we've never had an experience like this one from hospitality to accomating, we give them a 5/5 and we'll definitely be back!! Thanks so much for making today even...
Read moreI arrived at 7:30pm, didnt get seated til 7:45ish restaurant appeared not busy no host others waiting and asking if we been talked to and we wasnt, the host then proceeded to seat the ppl in front us then it took her an additional 5/6 mins to come back and acknowledge me so coo im like whatever must be short staffed. Also it smells really sewer like and its bad.. So I sit down waiter comes give drink orders blah blah she brings out one drink then the menus we order she says fresh bread will be out 10-15 maybe 20 mins comes no fresh bread no drink for me nothing. The waiter Paul seen me frustrated because I literally seen everyone getting bread drinks food and im sitting here with only one drink my guest ordered and nothing for me he proceed to ask if i wanted the manager I’m like no I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt but I also see her walking around checking her other tables never checking on me. So the bread comes out after Paul asking me if im okay then here comes the salads and then the drink that I didnt ask for I ask for white wine but hey still giving her time. The food comes out okay cool the steak was cold both of them lobster tails great but overall she didnt come back to ask how the food was. Paul did Paul also came and boxed our food because we waited for her to come back out I also has to get another waiter Paul also knew it was my birthday and brought out a cheesecake she never apologized sorry for the wait of anything just brought the check that said happy birthday and that was it. The service was horrrrrible and when I say horrible my waiter was absolutely horrible the experience was horrible and I’ve never experience this type of wait foe $300 for 2 plus tip I feel scammed and overall left unhappy. I def will be reaching out further because what I thought would be a great evening...
Read moreMy wife and I were regulars at the Morton's in downtown Clayton back when we were dating. Fast forward to this weekend and we are celebrating another anniversary. We decide to head back to Morton's. It was a mistake.
The service was bad. And not just by Morton's standards. The Clayton location was impeccable. There's no comparison to be made because the downtown Morton's isn't even trying to be the same class of restaurant.
No, it was bad service by any standards. We made reservations and showed up to get seated. The hostess left a sticker at our table showing when we were sat and that it was our anniversary. It took 30 minutes for a busser to serve us water. We watched tables get seated and served drinks and bread long after we were seated. The manager even walked by chatting with nearby tables, even congratulating a table next to us on their anniversary. I kept trying to flag him down and he kept briskly walking by our table. Eventually our waiter showed up and we were able to order drinks.
By the hour mark we received our drinks and ordered an appetizer. We finished the appetizer and by the 2 hour mark we got our complimentary bread. We ordered dinner and after another long wait we got our food.
All told, it took 3 and a half hours for us to dine. Most of it spent being ignored by waitstaff and management. Thank God my wife has a good sense of humor. We're still laughing about how bad it was and wondering if we were being punk'ed by some hidden camera show. Our only mistake was failing to trust our instincts and walk out earlier.
That's the only advice I can give if you are contemplating visiting this location, just keep walking. Ramsey's Kitchen is upstairs and was a great experience. Ruth's Chris is down the road and it is actually the class of restaurant the old Morton's...
