I visited Applebees the Fountain/Stafford location on Monday night April 3, 2023. The usual bartender Nelly was not there and it appeared to be a new bartender working. I ordered a top shelf long island per usual. I finished my drink, waited around awhile for the check. I finally had to ask for the check at which time she provided me with a card machine. This was the first time i’ve used the card machine while at the bar. I am usually provided a paper receipt. Moreover, I paid for the drink, tipped for the lousy service. Waited another 5 mins or so for the printed receipt but the bartender had again disappeared. and left. The next morning I noticed another Applebees pending charge for an additional amount. I called the store to speak with a manager and was told to come in after 5pm. I returned to the Applebees Stafford location and requested to speak with the manager. The same bartender from the night before was on shift and she went to fetch the manager. I explained to the Store Manager my concerns and what had taken place pertaining to my account. She then tried to convince me that the card machines were messing up lately and that they had been having problems with the machine adding additional amounts to checks… She then asked for my card info so she could pull up the transaction. While she walked away to the back, the bartender attempted to return the amount that was “mistakenly” added to my check, stating, “The machines are just messed up. I will just give you the money but you will see in a week.” I declined. When the manager returned she shows me my check/order on the tablet and it clearly showed that an additional tip was added. The manager still stuck with the story of the card machines mistakenly adding amounts to checks. If that was the case, why were they using them and not just printing out receipts like the store usually does? I told her that I didn’t appreciate being stolen from and I wanted to make an official complaint. I also informed her that the bartender tried to return the money to me while she was in the back. She the informs me that it was nothing she could do and the manager that could was on vacation… I left my name and contact information. As of today April 20th, I have not received a follow up...
Read moreI hate that I'm having to give this restaurant a one-star review, because I've had good service here in the past. However, today my experience was beyond frustrating.
I came in for lunch with one other person on a break from work. We ordered our drinks with one server and another server brought them to us. He said that our original server just heard of a family emergency and was leaving; therefore, he'd be our new server. A little bit later he came back and said that she hadn't left yet, so she still might be taking care of us, but that he'd go ahead and get our order started. We gave him our order and he left. No one else came by to check on us.
We waited about 40 minutes before I asked the second server to please check on our food. He went back to the POS station with the original server and manager. I could hear them talking and motioning like "I didn't put it in!". He came over to tell us that he just "checked on it in the kitchen and they said it would be out in two minutes". I know that if my food wasn't originally put in, it wasn't going to take two minutes to cook a chicken breast and steak. My guest and I both have been servers before. We get it. We've all forgotten to put an order in. Don't lie and say it will be two minutes when it's going to take at least 15. Communicate with your other servers and make sure that someone knows who will be taking that table. Our server said the teas were on the house. We waited almost 10 minutes more and when no food came out and no one came to check on us/manager didn't come by to apologize/etc., we left. Told two different servers at the front that we weren't walking our tab and we couldn't wait anymore on our food because I had to get back to work. I was extremely frustrated with the service today, especially since there were only about 4 other tables in the...
Read moreWhat a terrible experience!! I took my husband to eat on Veterans Day and we waited nearly 1 hour and a half and were told it would be 45 min. Now that’s being very patient considering that we were very hungry. Note it did not take longer than 45 min because of the lack of seating or crowds, it was poor service. We left at 8:16 pm and that greeter had no communication, customer service skills at all. It appears as though he was taking time to watch the game on TV and not helping others. He told us the table needed to be wiped down and it took so long that in my opinion the entire restaurant tables must have been wiped down, because we never got seated. When I stood up and approached him to asked him, what the hold up was, he stated, “I don’t know”and tried to flag someone (employee) down. I latter told him that we just could not wait a minute longer and he showed no remorse nor did he say a thing when the comment was made. It’s a shame that my husband’s dinner was ruined. A night to forgot and not to remember as we should be thanking him for his service of 13 plus years in the military. We were shaking our heads that night since we did not get the service we deserve. If I could give this rating no stars, I would but Google will not allow you to post without adding at least one star. I hope someone takes a few moments to just observe what, we went through and provide additional training to the staff and not over look this review. I am just stating the facts and I can’t help but discourage others from not eating here.
My greatest joy is that I just can’t wait to leave and wake up the next day to call corporate.
And if you decide to comment based on my review No need to offer comments of sorrow the damage has...
