Quite frankly we were super excited to try this restaurant. We were meeting halfway with family from L.I. and read a ton of great reviews but our experience was just... far from great. We were celebrating our cousin's birthday and had the whole family together from all around. The appetizers were pretty good, entrees all around were a hit with the exception of some being under/over cooked, missing items and just too salty! So salty you couldn't get the flavor of the surrounding accompaniments. But you know what truly stands out in a restaurant? SERVICE! I am in the restaurant industry and food can be good, could be better or just amazing BUT if service doesn't stand right behind then there's very little to look back at. Our server greeted us ok, but lacked service all around. We were on the second floor with two or three other tables (so not busy which can make things slower sometimes on the servers) and it just took a long time to order drinks, get the drinks (two of them were not of our liking and asked to be modified and instead of taking them back and modifying them he told us he will bring what we asked to compliment the drinks... 20 min later we had not seen him still! The bass girl was so nice she took care of it after seeing we were not being helped.) He wasn't the kind to give suggestions or open to answers but rather just wanted to get the orders in and done! Again, at least another 20 min before we saw him again to ask for another round. And last but not least... we were celebrating a birthday! We asked for a candle yet the dessert came out pretty alone. All in all service was less than great and we got added 20% gratuity which... OK we understand how it works but at least work your magic with your tables and perhaps you can earn a little more but NO. Did the job at less than mediocre and expected a way out of line tip. Will probably be returning to the bar as the service there was great but not to dine with a big group or in general. Hope you all can work this out! Seems to be a good restaurant but service is just as...

INCOMPARABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, PROFESSIONAL STAFF AND GREAT FOOD AND AMBIANCE!

BAR ROSSO IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE FOR ANY OCCASION, HANGING OUT WITH FRIENDS, HAVING DINNER WITH FAMILY, GOING ON AN INTIMATE DATE OR EVEN HAVING A BIRTHDAY PARTY. MIGHT I JUST ADD, I KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE BECAUSE I HAVE DONE ALL OF THE ABOVE.

IN ADDITION, THE DRINKS ARE SPECTACULAR, MY FAVORITE IS THE LEMON DROP, A BIT TANGY BUT DELICIOUS! ESPECIALLY WHEN REMI MAKES IT, BUT THE ENTIRE BARTENDING STAFF IS KNOWLEDGEABLE ON MAKING DELICIOUS DRINKS , EXPERIENCED AND CERTIFIED. THE FOOD IS GREAT TOO, FROM THE CHEESE BOARDS TO THE CESAR SALAD, AND EVEN A MOUTH WATERING BURGER, THE FOOD THEY SERVE IS 5 STARS!

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT AND IMPERATIVE FUNCTIONALITY OF A BUSINESS IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY GIVE TO THEIR GUESTS. LAST WEEKEND I HAD A MISHAP WHERE MY TWO DRINKS WERE INADVERTENTLY UNPAID FOR. I HAD LEFT PRIOR THE WAITRESS REALIZING AND BEING ABLE TO LET ME KNOW. MY FRIEND BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION WHEN THEY SAW ME AT ANOTHER VENUE WE HAD ATTENDED AFTERWARDS.

I FELT SO EMBARRASSED AND AWFUL THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED, I EMAILED THE OWNER RIGHT AWAY TO GIVE HIM MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION AND APOLOGIES FOR THE INCONVENIENT SITUATION. HE SENT ME A PROFESSIONAL AND TIMELY RESPONSE BACK, LETTING ME KNOW NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE TWO DRINKS AND THEY LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING ME NEXT TIME.

IT WASN’T ABOUT THE MONEY; IT WAS HOW HE HANDLED THE SITUATION AND PUT THE CUSTOMER FIRST EVEN WHEN IT WAS MY FAULT. I APPRECIATE THAT SERVICE AND FOR THAT REASON ALONE I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN LOOKING FOR A...

Came for ladies night and what a disappointment starting from the hostess ending with one of the bartenders! When we arrived clearly told the hostess that we were here for drinks, but she decided to give us a table. We asked the waitress what were the specials for ladies night and told us we had to either sit at the bar or at a high top. Well we decided to move to a hight top, sitting at the hight top no one comes we asked the hostess (who doesn’t a clue what goes on in this place at all) if we had to order from the wait staff or at the bar, again she didn’t know so she had to go ask. Comes back and tell us we had to order from the bar. I go order at the bar bartender cared more about talking to her colleagues than attending the costumer waiting. Not sure if we were just been discriminated for been Hispanic (because the white folks were clearly getting a great service) or they are just all snotty and stuck up but I’ll not be coming back to this place again. Even tho the food is good. The only person who gave us good service was Remy (I think that’s her name, she was a bartender). - update: Cesar the manager approached us and apologized for the bad service and experience. He personally took care of us with a couple of drinks on the house and also gave us a gift card. This is what great customer service should be like from the start! I hope that they train their employees to be friendly and to have knowledge of what is going on at the restaurant....

Update Dec 2021 - We stopped in for happy hour on a Wednesday night. First impression: turn the heat up a couple hours before opening as the metal bar was about 60 degrees. The whole place seemed too cold to have a good time. We left after our first round of drinks… Original Review: First visit came in for lunch. This is a really nice place and it’s clear this place is very popular with the local crowd. Ordered Seared Scallops and Grilled Octopus and they both were very well prepared and presented! The Scallops were seared just right gut and were enhanced by a delicious risotto. They micro greens were elegant and a nice touch! Grilled Octopus was cooked perfectly and the escarole with cannelloni beans had some pep provided by some red pepper flakes, perhaps a tad heavy on the red pepper, but delicious nonetheless. It’s clear we’ll have to check out their brunch at some point. Bar Rossi is another great option in downtown Stamford!

We went there for a late dinner, we sat at the bar and we’re immediately welcomed by Cesar the bartender he brought menus over and water right away. The restaurant gives modern Italian vibes, they have a great cocktail and food menu. We ordered the Stamford’s old fashion and they Rosa Linda, both contained a generous amount of liquor and tasted great, A+ for that. We ordered just a few dishes but they all tasted great and again the portions were just right, we ordered the polpo alla griglia which came with fingerling potatoes and a creamy aioli, we also got the crispy Brussel sprouts and the pappardelle al funghi, this pasta was exquisite, definitely my favorite dish. I definitely will go back to try more dishes, if you like Italian food with a modern twist, please give it a try.

Food: The food was really just ok. Nothing really amazed me and some of the food was very unseasoned. Their lobster ravioli and shrimp was also very lack luster and only gave one shrimp that was chopped up. If you want to get food I would just get the appetizers and skip the main courses. However, the drinks were great so I would definitely go back to grab a cocktail. Service: Our waitress was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Ambiance: It's very standard but they do have a cute patio area and large windows that open up which is nice. Overall: I wouldn't be running back here but if I'm in the area and want to grab a nice cocktail and some appetizers then I would consider them.
