John the Baker Restaurant exceeded all of my expectations and then some! As a devout lover of authentic Italian cuisine, I stumbled upon this hidden gem purely by chance – and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked bread, and let me tell you, it was love at first bite. The bread was unbelievably soft, almost like a cloud, and paired with their divine butter, it was a match made in culinary heaven.
But it doesn't stop there. John the Baker's marinara sauce is simply to die for. As someone who takes their sauces very seriously, I was blown away by the rich, robust flavor that danced on my taste buds with each spoonful. It's the kind of sauce that makes you want to lick the plate clean!
And let's talk about their service – impeccable doesn't even begin to describe it. When I learned that they could accommodate my 25th birthday celebration at the last minute, I didn't hesitate to change my plans. Who needs a glitzy, overpriced Manhattan restaurant when you can have an unforgettable dining experience right here?
A special shoutout to Alex, the epitome of hospitality and excellence. He ensured that every aspect of my dining experience was nothing short of perfection, from the moment I walked in to the moment I left with a satisfied stomach and a smile on my face. If you have the pleasure of dining at John the Baker, be sure to ask for Alex – he'll elevate your experience to a whole new level.
I say all that to say that John the Baker Restaurant is a true hidden gem that deserves all the praise it gets and more. With fresh, soft bread, mouthwatering marinara sauce, and top-notch service, it's a culinary journey you won't soon forget. Trust me, you'll be counting down the days until...
Read moreI don't leave bad reviews lightly, but I've gotten takeout from here twice in the last two weeks and had less than stellar experiences both times. I wasn't planning to leave a bad review, but after tonight's takeout, I felt it necessary. The first time I ordered, I got the 2 for $25 Mon/Tues deal which was good food, but the chicken masala was such a small portion I didn't feel it was worth it. I also got two small side salads for an additional $3 each, and they only gave me one. When I went back in to get the other one, the guy behind the register didn't believe me so I had to go back to the car to get my receipt and show him (understandable, but unprofessional). Tonight, I only ordered a large garden salad ($9.99) with gorgonzola (+$1.25) which they said would take 10-15 minutes. When I got there 20 minutes later, it wasn't ready and one of the ladies threw it together as I stood there. When I got home, I was so disappointed with the small size of it and that there was only one dressing for the whole thing. Fortunately, since I normally go light on dressing anyways, I was able to stretch it for the whole thing, but most people would be needing much more of it. The pictures are of tonights salad and I hate to say it's not at all worth the $12.07 I paid for it. I could justify spending up to $9 since the ingredients are fresh and the dressing is great, but that would be only if I was dying to have their dressing. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother...

Walked in yesterday to order a large pie, half meat and the other vegetarian. Asked for three toppings on the vegie side and asked for two toppings on the meat side. The bill came out to be over $25 which I thought was suspiciously high. Did not say anything until I came home and checked the receipt. I was charged a full pie topping for each one of the toppings when in fact I had only ordered it to be spread over only half the pie.
I think the manager looked at my face and assumed I do not speak and understand Spanish. When ringing up the bill, he told his two Hispanic staff members standing next to him that he would ring up each item into the computer one by one, when one of them asked how he planned to split the charge for toppings.
My 12 years of Spanish education beginning in 3rd grade through college did not let me down. Nor my years working in New York City alongside Dominicans and Puerto Ricans.
I have no complaints about the pizza but I do have much to complain about this dishonest pricing tactic....
