Well, I won't be giving this place any more business! I did not have a good experience, but to top it off, I check my credit card statement and see that the waitress added her own tip! I did not tip due to the poor service. $4 was added to my bill when it was charged. Illegal and unethical!
I remembered this place being good after a backpacking trip a couple years ago. Came in for lunch after a long mountain bike ride, so I was tired, hungry, and thirsty. I had to wait in line about 10 minutes to be seated (there were plenty of empty seats), then after being seated, the waitress took another several minutes to come over, and when she did, she did not introduce herself or anything, just said, "are you ready?" Their power had gone out, and I asked about it, and her only response was, "yeah, we're getting a generator going." Okay, I thought, I guess it's not a big deal.
Food was meh. I remembered it being such a good burger a couple years ago, so I'm not sure what changed. I'm certain it was one of those frozen patties you can get at Wal-Mart for like $5 for 20 of them, but they charge $15 for this burger, plus $2-3 each for toppings. It tasted like a hot dog, which was odd. But I was starving, so I ate it.
Waitress never came back to check on me or refill my water, even though at one point she looked directly at my glass, but quickly turned and walked away.
So back to the power thing, I'm ready to pay and the waitress tells me it'll be 20 minutes for their internet to be back up in order to use a card. This is something that should've been mentioned before I placed my order when I asked about the power! I guess it was the manager who came over and offered a free dessert, but I declined. The meal wasn't very good and I was afraid the dessert on top of that would give me nausea. I signed my receipt without entering a tip. I guess from now on I'll have to be sure to write $0 on the tip line, but regardless, they should NOT be writing in their own tip! I do not know the waitress's name, because she never said it, and I didn't see a name tag. Older lady, never smiled, seemed like she didn't want...
Read moreBad service and poor quality food. We got there around 3 pm and it was pretty empty. The atmosphere was kind of weird. Servers were rude to each other in front of us and also had to be reminded to tend to tables that had people and wanted to leave but no one was there to give them their check. They have two types of burgers. Regular and Kobe. Kobe is of course way more expensive. When ordering a burger the waiter didn't ask or clarify which burger I wanted. I assumed that when I said "a burger" it would be just an old regular basic burger especially when there were no questions from the server. When we asked for a check the price was very steep. We asked why and the guy said it's the right price for their Kobe Burger which I didn't order of course. To my "but I ordered just a regular burger" he replied that "Kobe burgers are their regular burgers". If you have no other options in Stanley just be mindful. I am pretty sure they are told not to ask intentionally so they can just charge you more.
For 20$ Burger came with a one piece of wilted lettuce and an old looking piece of tomato...
I recommend Stanley Supper Club instead if it's open. They have unexpectedly good food and their...
Read moreWe spent a week hiking in the area and had the best experience almost everywhere we went. Sawtooth Luce's was no exception. It's a wonderful local place with a good vibe, fast, friendly service and outstanding food. We ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and the big bird. We went back and forth on the curried hummus, thinking we didn't need that much food. We added it after we had placed our order and we were so glad we did! The food was a revelation. We didn't expect such sophisticated flavors in a small outpost in the middle of nowhere. Shame on us! The crispy chicken sandwich was so good with a craft bun, savory aioli, and perfectly cooked chicken with a great crunch. The Big Bird elevated the traditional turkey sandwich with the sprouts, aioli and guac. And whoever thought to put it on nann bread was genius! But the curried hummus was the best! I've had a lot of hummus, but never curried. It had just a mild curried flavor with a hint of sweetness. Adding the cucumbers on the side for a little crunch really finished it off nicely. In case you can't tell, we loved Sawtooth Luce's and would highly...
