I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bluto's Greek Tavern in Starkville, Mississippi, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Morgan, was an absolute delight. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she truly went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable. A special shoutout to the manager, Walker, who was also fantastic. Walker checked in on us multiple times to ensure everything was perfect and even took the time to chat with us about the restaurant's history and menu. It's clear that Walker takes great pride in providing top-notch service and creating a wonderful dining environment. The food was absolutely delicious, with a perfect blend of traditional Greek flavors and creative twists. The gyro omelette and Greek fries were standout dishes, and the cocktails were a delightful treat. Overall, Bluto's Greek Tavern is a must-visit spot in Starkville. With outstanding service from Morgan and Walker, and mouthwatering food, it's no wonder this place is a local favorite. We'll definitely be back!

I've had this one on my list for a while now – Having enjoyed Bluto's Greek Tavern for lunch when they first opened, we gave them a shot for breakfast. I got a "Meat Sweats" omelet - eggs, lots of meats, cheese (with added lamb, because that's what one does at a gyro place) with a biscuit and Potatoes O'Brien (has browns with onion & peppers). It was really good, and the meat overflowed the omelet itself! Went in hungry and came out very satisfied. The service was prompt, professional, and friendly, and they can host a crowd. Even in this cold weather, they have an enclosed patio area where you can be seated, if you prefer (just ask), The place was decorated in a festive "frat" style with many an homage to the classic college movie "Animal House" – and yes, you can buy copies of those posters. Great atmosphere and music, too, plus, you can use their virtual jukebox right from your table or walk up to the kiosk! Kudos to GM Christy Bryan and her hardworking crew – Good ol' Bluto Blutarsky would approve!

I’ll start with I’ve tried eating here 3 or 4 times over the past year and every time at dinner they said it was an hour to hour half wait. Naturally we left. Once I asked what about all these (empty tables), and they replied well we only have one cook…so we couldn’t be seated. Finally got to sit down and eat, a couple of friends had eaten here before to great reviews. The food was subpar, namely the meats were bad salty. Other friends complained of the same thing. The beef was so salty it tasted like a salt lick (but not as salty as another review of bbq in TN). The rice was a bit on the dry side. As to it being “geek” cuisine, it’s a close facsimile, but lacked the traditional Greek flavors like olives, olive oil, fresh onions, feta/other cheeses. The humus was ok. The portions were decent, prices a little high. The service was great—we did have an awesome waitress, super attentive and on her game. Good just sucks. Not worth the wait

The Amberjack was delicious! It was literally the most flavorful fish I've had in Starkville, albeit the tiniest bit overcooked. We really enjoyed the plastic-enclosed porch with heaters as well. It was a cold, windy day and we were able to sit outside with no issues! Having a Greek restaurant around is amazing. We were a little disappointed they were out of their Baba Ghanoush; I can't wait to try that! The Hummus and Greek rice could have had a tad more flavor but was perfect consistency (I went home and added just a few Greek seasonings and it was amazing). Their Beef Shawarma was a bit dry but pretty good. Oh! And the Greek wings-they were definitely different and maybe not for everyone, but I personally liked them. We were sat with no silverware and waited a bit for our check, but the hostess and server were polite and the atmosphere was a nice change in the Starkville community. I'll definitely try it again once the staff has a bit more time to settle into their new positions!

All in all it was a good experience besides a few easily fixable tweaks that will probably naturally change with time anyway.

P.S. I literally never eat the BS side salads restaurants put with an entree, but I ate theirs. Nothing beats a good vinaigrette and actually crispy veggies. I'm excited to try a real...

I hesitate writing this review because I have been here multiple times and liked my previous visits but this last visit was not good. This review is more about the service instead of the food.

Met me husband here for lunch and ordered the fries and wings as appetizers and ordered two gyros. The appetizers did not come together, the wings ended up coming after we had completed the fries. And it took our server 30 minutes after we ordered our main course to tell me that they did not have what I ordered. She asked if I wanted anything else, but by then, I had to go back to work 10 minutes later so I declined.

This was my husbands first time here and I raved to him how good the place was, so for this to be his first experience, was a little disappointing.

They did however comp our appetizers, so that was nice. I will say, the fries and wings were really good. Will order again if we come back. We just didn't get an explanation as to why it took the server the entire time we were there to tell us they were out of what I ordered when she passed our table multiple times. The place wasn't packed when we arrived - maybe 6 tables filled, so the delay in service was questioned.

I am hoping our next visit won't be like this one, because if it is, probably wont be...

Was obsessed with this place for about 1 month and then I got a bad order that got me sick for a day. rip. I always get takeout and it always matches to how if it eas eaten as dine in. Food comes out hot so make sure you get there early to ensure that. Heres the real review from me. I always get the philly steak gyro with some type of appetizer to try. Just about everytime i eat the steak here its always tough like well done but i still manage to come back. Multiple ppl have mentioned how tough the steak is so maybe they should offer or make clear that they can instead choose how it should be cooked. They need to be mediumish and not so overdone..

And heres what mightve got me sick. Ive had the tomato fritters before but this time it was like someone poured 1 cup of salt in it. Im being serious. Could barely finish it. Not sure what went wrong. They have stickers proving when it was prepared but maybe still something couldve went wrong during the process of making them. I'll come here again one day but right now itll be awhile. The fried oreos and the fried pb and j is good to eat as a late night snack as a to go order. Friendly atmosphere. I'll have to try their new breakfast menu but my recent experience...
