El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Statesboro

If I could give ZERO I WOULD!!! I went here after the fair a few weeks ago. We had a party of 6 where 2 was children. They seat us in a terrible area with the worse comfort and light for our party. I order a quesadilla along with someone else in the group. Where our food came out it was cold. We told our server and she was apologetic and took it back. 20 mins later our food came back. Like our exact plate we had sent back. The just simply put the plate in the oven and that was it like we had lettuce and sour cream on it that is now brown. We asked to speak to a manger who basically wanted to say they are suppose to put it in the oven not make a new one. We continue to say if we want a remake it will be another 20 mins and we can go ahead and pay for it. We left hungry that night. I tried a different location with another issue. Service was fantastic! However the food was lacking. The chips and salsa were really good, chicken and steak fajitas not so much…. I was initially brought the wrong ones from the kitchen, however the steak and chicken was clearly overcooked. It was visually dry and shriveled. Not a drop of moisture noted. They took the first serving back and brought the correct ones (first had shrimp in them). The second serving, the chicken was a little less overcooked, but still overcooked as it was still dry. The steak was inedible as I could not chew some of it. I was able to get some small pieces, but again overcooked and had NO flavor. I want to start off by saying we chose this restaurant braised off of reviews online and it ended up being the worst restaurant I have been to in a long time. The bathrooms were very dirty, there was no soap to wash your hands, and water was everywhere. The food was absolutely terrible. We didn’t take anything to go and everyone at our table (only 3 of us) ate only a couple of bites of the food because it tasted so horrible. The waitress didn’t know the menu and couldn’t even tell us what was available to eat that would be spicy. We ended up paying over $60 for two adults and a child. The only thing that was good was their salsa. The next morning my husband and I were sick as a dog with food poisoning. Just because a restaurant looks good from outside doesn’t make it a good place to eat!! We will never come back. Wish I could give them...
